LBJ Campfire, Thursday Night

Sometime during the day, Sam had come to a sad realization - he hadn't had nearly enough s'mores for the amount of time they'd been out at the cabins. When the evening rolled around and the sun finally went down, he lit the cabin's campfire and set himself up with all the necessary supplies, to cook for himself and for anyone else who sat down.

It wasn't long before he figured out that his marshmallow roasting stick was also good for keeping tiny moose away from the fire. It was kind of amazing how this place still found ways to weird him out, even after all this time.

Firekeeper had tried marshmallows before, but s'mores were... something new. And so, curious as always, she and Blind Seer took a seat by the fire.

"Hello, Sam," she greeted. "What is?"

"Hey there," he said with a smile. "This? It's a s'more. Has anyone ever made one of these for you?"

"Have not had such before," Firekeeper admitted.

"Oh, I totally need to fix that," he said. "It's chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers all together. It's kind of messy, but also kind of the best campfire food ever."

Firekeeper could think of many things that were "better" campfire food, but that was due to a lifetime of having to catch her own food for survival. Thus, she very diplomatically did not refute Sam's claim. "Can handle messy," she said instead.

"Good," Sam said, getting the graham crackers and chocolate ready. "So how are your workshops going? Did you end up in any you didn't want?"

"Not so this time!" Firekeeper said, clearly pleased with this. "Had help, in reading about what there is."

"Oh good," Sam said, looking just as pleased. "So you're taking fun things? That's what summer's all about."

"Flight is 'fun'," Firekeeper said, after giving it some thought. "If fun is not skills I can be using, in my world. Other classes is useful things."

"Useful is good too. I've got a few of those types of classes," Sam said, getting a marshmallow nice and toasted. "Flight is a good class to take, because I think it's a little less serious than Ethics, so Professor Skywalker's not as scary." Not that he ever really stopped being scary, even to Sam.

"Sister-mine," Emma said, wriggling her fingers at Blysse. "Looks like I'm not the only one out for an adventure away from our cabin."

"Emma," Firekeeper gave a nod back. "Tahiri say I should be spending more time at campfires," given her wolf-given name, she found this particular task somewhat amusing. "So, I do."

"Tahiri. Little and blonde, yes?" Emma asked, holding up a hand to indicate the other girl's height. "She mentioned you were friends."

"Is such," Firekeeper confirmed, lips quirking up in a smile at the mention of her friend's height. "She is good friend, yes. Wise thoughts on many things. Like shoes."

"Shoes-smart?" Emma perked up. "Is there a decent shoe store around here? I'm desperate to do some shopping; I've only got two pairs of shoes right now, and I'll wear through them by fall at this rate."

And that got a laugh out of Firekeeper, who wriggled a bare foot in Emma's direction. "She not wear any. I not either, though in winter boots is better than feet freezing."

"We don't want your toes falling off from frost-bite," Emma agreed as she wriggled her own ballet-flat clad foot at Blysse. "I'm too much of a chicken to go about barefoot. I'd get distracted and step on something sharp, and I do so hate blood."

"Blysse! Long time no see!"

"Yes," Firekeeper agreed. "Has been such. Have been well?" Small talk: not her forte. But she tried!

"I'm great. You?"

"Am good," Firekeeper nodded. "Cabins is... still not same as how I grow up, but closer than dorms is."

"Must be kind of a relief for you guys, then, huh?" Priestly asked, nodding to Blind Seer.

"Is," Firekeeper nodded. "Much easier to sleep outside if we wish it."

"It's been some good weather for that. Though the bugs'll probably get bad at some point."
