LBJ Campfire, Thursday Night

Sometime during the day, Sam had come to a sad realization - he hadn't had nearly enough s'mores for the amount of time they'd been out at the cabins. When the evening rolled around and the sun finally went down, he lit the cabin's campfire and set himself up with all the necessary supplies, to cook for himself and for anyone else who sat down.

It wasn't long before he figured out that his marshmallow roasting stick was also good for keeping tiny moose away from the fire. It was kind of amazing how this place still found ways to weird him out, even after all this time.

The bitchface Chuck put on was kind of dulled by the fact that he had been in the midst of eating s'more when Sam brought up Blair. "I spent a good part of the conversation trying to convince her to be nice to you."

"Really? I've kind of given up on that ever happening," Sam said. "It's not that big of a deal. What matters is that she's nice to you."

"If this sudden interest in me and Blair is because you think it'll distract my attention from you then you are sadly mistaken," Chuck said. "I have an excellent ability to multitask."

"You don't think maybe I want to help you?" Sam asked, with a sad look. "I'm crushed."

"I have a hard time believing that you would want to help me get laid," he said. The fact that Sam thought he needed help was mildly insulting. "Do you even use that term? You look like a making love type of guy to me. Certainly not a fucking sort of guy."

"I would never describe the kind of sex I have with the F-word," Sam said, "although I can't say the same for the sex other people have, like the kind that involves walls. Somehow, I don't think sex with Blair would be that crude either."

"Well that's unfortunate," Chuck said with a pout. "I like fucking."

"Do you think she does?" Sam asked. "Because that's kind of important in terms of compatibility."

Chuck rolled his eyes. "Compatibility has nothing to do with anything. Everybody likes it rough every now and again--even you. You're just afraid you'll like it too much."

Sam couldn't keep from glaring a little as he shook his head. "I'm not talking about my sex life and how I really don't need anything like that," he said. "I'm talking about you and Blair, and the first time you do it."

"I've deflowered virgins before, Samuel," Chuck said. "Many times. Both girls and guys."

"But have they been virgins that you wanted for as long as you've been going after Blair?" Sam asked, ignoring the use of his full name for now.

"No, but in my defense that before November she had been taken," he said. "And I'm curious as to what kind of insight you can offer in this situation. I find it hard to believe that you've been in my place."

"Maybe not exactly in your place, but I understand wanting to be with someone and not acting on it," Sam replied. "You can't expect me to believe Blair would be the average deflowering."

"It's not," he admitted. "But it's also not some rose petals on the bed, true love, boyfriend and girlfriend thing. You are well aware of the fact that I don't do that."

"Yes, I realize that," Sam said. "I'm also aware that there's a middle ground between wall humping and passionate lovemaking."

"Man, you really want to have sex against a wall, don't you?"

Well he kept bringing it up!

"I'm using an example you're familiar with," Sam said, perfectly aware that he wasn't really answering Chuck's question. "If you want Blair so badly, why don't you make a move? Ask her out on a date - and not to your club of strippers."

"Burlesque dancers," Chuck corrected easily. "And in a similar vein to the boyfriend/girlfriend thing, I don't go out on dates. Can't I just have sex with her? That's always worked for me in the past."

"No, you can't just have sex with her. Didn't you guys go to prom together?" Sam asked. Not that he paid any attention to Chuck's life, because that would just be weird. "That counts as a date."

"Went as friends so it totally doesn't count." Ignore the making out that happened there. "Why can't I just have sex with her? It's not like she wouldn't enjoy herself. I'm very good. Hannibal told me I made him see God once."

That was after the bondage time. Oh, nostalgia.

There was nothing that could have stopped Sam from rolling his eyes at that. "Does she strike you as the casual sex kind of girl? No matter how good you are?"

Chuck groaned. "I don't know what you're expecting. If she's not a casual sex sort of girl and I'm not a relationship sort of guy then I guess we're fucked, aren't we?"

"You could always compromise in the middle," Sam said. "But that would require talking about feelings and wants, and that might be too much, right?"

"There is no compromise for girls," he said. "They pretend they're okay with you sleeping with other people but they'll make your life a living hell until you agree to be their slave."

Way to be dramatic, Chuck.
