LBJ Campfire, Thursday Night

Sometime during the day, Sam had come to a sad realization - he hadn't had nearly enough s'mores for the amount of time they'd been out at the cabins. When the evening rolled around and the sun finally went down, he lit the cabin's campfire and set himself up with all the necessary supplies, to cook for himself and for anyone else who sat down.

It wasn't long before he figured out that his marshmallow roasting stick was also good for keeping tiny moose away from the fire. It was kind of amazing how this place still found ways to weird him out, even after all this time.

"Not being a morning person doesn't mean you're lazy."

"He's lazy for a few minutes in the morning. It kind of counts," Sam said. "Maybe."

"If you say so." Priestly kind of figured most people were lazy for at least a few minutes of the day. "So, whatcha taking this summer?"

"I'm taking the SAT class, Spy Games, Drama, and, uh, the sex class," he said, getting much quieter at the end.

Priestly grinned. "Man, if that's anything like Sex Ed was last semester, it must be a trip and a half."

"It's really clinical and technical. I'm not sure if the teacher's ever actually had sex," Sam said. "But it's been pretty interesting so far, and not embarrassing yet."

"I'm not sure a sexual education counts until you've been embarrassed."

"There's no law that says your teachers have to embarrass you," Sam said. "At least, I hope not, because I kind of dread that."

"No, I think in sex ed, there is. Unwritten, maybe, but totally there."

"I'm going to hold out hope. Maybe everyone else will get embarrassed, and not me?"

"Right. 'Cause you're chock full of no shame."

[likethegun]

"I've been embarrassed enough in my life for three lifetimes. I could use a break every once in a while."

[lovemykilt]

"Aaaaand you're hoping to get it from a sex class."

[likethegun]

"I think somewhere, very deep down, I have an inner optimist that likes to take over every once in a while," Sam said, laughing.

"Well, I suppose there's worse things to have deep down."
