LBJ Campfire, Thursday Night

Sometime during the day, Sam had come to a sad realization - he hadn't had nearly enough s'mores for the amount of time they'd been out at the cabins. When the evening rolled around and the sun finally went down, he lit the cabin's campfire and set himself up with all the necessary supplies, to cook for himself and for anyone else who sat down.

It wasn't long before he figured out that his marshmallow roasting stick was also good for keeping tiny moose away from the fire. It was kind of amazing how this place still found ways to weird him out, even after all this time.

"Well, that's at least way more noble than a lot of lawyers get."

"Yeah, the profession gets a little maligned," Jennifer admitted.

"Maybe it's 'cause so many of 'em end up politicians?"

"You definitely don't have to worry about that with me," Jennifer said. "Not my thing."

"Good to hear. So, public defender, huh?"

Jennifer nodded. "Who better to defend than the helpless?"

Priestly shrugged. "Guess no one. Not a lot of people can say they'd wanna do that, so more power to you."

Jennifer smiled. "And then, you can feed them."

"Absolutely. Trucker's always down with helping feed the hopeless. He says his karma needs all the help it can get."

"That's eastern philosophy, right?" Jennifer said.

"Yeah. Basically one of those 'reap what you sow' things, only on a cosmic level."

Jennifer nodded. "I've read about that."
