Third Floor Common Room - Monday after classes - 06/01

It had been far too long since Liir had been in a kitchen, and by that we mean he'd been out of one for more than a day. After the somewhat startling experience Sunday, well, he was quite prepared to settle into a bit of normality and get himself covered in flour. Makejoy stayed out of the kitchen as she'd been trained, flopped at the edge of the carpet to watch her very silly daddy work.

Nonetheless, as silly as he was, he'd decided to make something that smelled rather delicious, so if someone else happened to wander by, well, Liir certainly wouldn't blame them for grabbing a few off the plate whether they stayed or not.

Next, of course, there was soup to get to, but all in good time...

"The future is filled with prepackaged everything," Valentine said, "so these are really kind of a treat."

Considering that Valentine was nibbling on her fifth already, Liir hardly had to invite her to help herself, so that was good that he didn't really mind.

"Tik tokishness?" she repeated, with a grin that said that she liked the sound of that. "You mean machinery, right?"

Valentine's head tilted a little. "What would be an example of non-mechanic tik tokishness, then?" It still just put to her mind all cogs and wheels and clockwork, though, and made her want to fiddle with things.

"Ah! Artificial intelligence, then," Valentine said, with a grin, "primitively speaking."

Valentine nodded a little. "I've heard them called that, too. Short for androids, I suspect."

"Not in the form of androids, no, but there's a lot of artificial intelligence in some of our military programs. That's all mostly Battle School stuff, though."

Valentine nodded a little. "Battle School," she said. "It's exactly how it sounds, only it's in space. Where I'm from, children were scouted out for their elligability for Battle School, and, if they were deemed to be made of the stuff of quality soldiers, they were sent to train in military fighting and strategy to fight against the Formics, an alien race that, until a little over a year ago, threatened humankind."

In a nutshell.
