Third Floor Common Room - Sunday Evening

Chuck had some time to kill before Emmett dragged him off to do radio so he decided to hang out in the common room to make himself easily available. He didn't want to be in his room when that happened; Emmett had the habit of knocking so hard that the door almost came off the hinges. Chuck decided to make himself comfortable while waiting and he had ordered some Chinese food and was now poking at lo mein while watching a movie.

It was really unfair that the chubby kid from this movie ended up with Rebecca Romijn.

"I'll certainly do my best to stay inside," Maron said. "I mean, that might make me a coward in some peoples' eyes, but going outside would only make me a burden, you know?"

"It's not cowardly to let yourself be protected," Rose said instantly. "That's what fighters train for anyway, right?"

"A lot of them train for that," she conceded, "but it doesn't change how those who don't fight feel--no one likes being useless."

She'd never thought of it that way. It wasn't how it worked. "It's not being useless," Rose said. She didn't know what it was.

"Doing nothing while other people are risking their lives to keep you safe sounds useless to me," she said, smiling slightly. "But if you're not a fighter, what can you do?"

"If you're in a position of danger, and you're not trained to fight, it's your duty to allow yourself to be protected," Rose repeated. "That is doing something." She shrugged. "There's probably other things that need to be handled?"

Doing something by doing nothing. Sigh.

"Apparently there's a support group," she said, offering Rose a grin. "I'm going to look into that. Maybe I can help there, while people are protecting me."

It really only made sense when the idea had been drilled into you since you were four.

"I saw the signs, I think," Rose said. "They looked very - bubbly."

"Did they?" Maron asked. "I just heard on radio there was a support group now."

"I think my roommate is running it or something," Rose said. She really hadn't paid attention. "But that sounds like a good idea."

"Who is your roommate?" Maron asked, curiously. "Maybe I can catch them before their next meeting and see what it's about."

"Morgana," she said. "Tall, dark hair." Everyone was tall compared to Rose, but it was the thought that counted.
