Third Floor Common Room - Monday Morning

Claire was in a great mood this morning. She felt like a huge weight was lifted from her shoulders thanks to her conversation with Dinah last night. Plus there was the whole normal hormones thing.

And maybe thinking about Jon a little.

She was awake far earlier than she needed to be, so she headed down to the common room and found what she needed to bake some cookies. She put the radio on and might even be singing along a little.

[open as common rooms are!]

Ellie nodded. "Yeah. I figure it's just one of those things that happen here and it'll wear off or something."

Karla just shook her head. "I'm from a Realm where magic is common, unicorns rule their own Territory, and we claim blood-kinship with dragons. And this is still weird."

Ellie just stared for a moment, taking in everything Karla said to her. "Unicorns exist in your world?"

"Yes," Karla answered grinning. "At the multicultural fair, I spun a web that let people experience my first ride on a unicorn. It was a lot of fun. And my unicorns don't have this bizarre virgin fetish that yours seem to."

That seemed to be the part of the world everyone focused on. Not that she could blame them. Unicorns were amazing.

"Now I'm wishing I had stopped at your booth at the fair," Ellie said thoughtfully. "There aren't any unicorns here...that I know of."

"Perhaps I will do it again some time," Karla offered. "If I do, I'll surely let you know." She frowned, puzzled. "If you don't have any unicorns, why are people so convinced that only virgins can touch them? It makes about as much sense as the stories of witches riding brooms. Which is to say none at all. Brooms seem a stupid means of travel, and deuced uncomfortable besides."

Sorry, Liir.

"I'm not sure why some people believe that," Ellie said honestly. "It does seem a little weird, huh?"

"Me neither," she grumpyfaced. "But the next person who asks me if I can turn people into toads is going to become the subject of experiments to see if the answer is yes."

"I'll remember not to ask that, then," Ellie said, amused. "You'll have to let me know how that experiment goes."

Karla laughed. "I will. By the way, if you think of anyone who could benefit from a few hours as a toad, send them my way."

"I'll be sure to let you know," Ellie snickered. At least, at the moment, she didn't have a problem with anyone.
