Third Floor Common Room - Monday Morning

Claire was in a great mood this morning. She felt like a huge weight was lifted from her shoulders thanks to her conversation with Dinah last night. Plus there was the whole normal hormones thing.

And maybe thinking about Jon a little.

She was awake far earlier than she needed to be, so she headed down to the common room and found what she needed to bake some cookies. She put the radio on and might even be singing along a little.

"Oh?" Leto managed not to look nervous. He did remember the conversation he had had with Dinah about Arthur not making him his queen. "I rarely listen to radio."

"Oh. It's... interesting. I suspect a lot of the things that are said are untrue," Claire said, neatly side-stepping any discussion of what she had heard about Arthur.

"Yes, so I hear," Leto replied, sounding quite certain on the matter. There was a pause. "What did you hear?"

Of course he would ask. "Just, you know, that he'd been kind of... busy last week."

"I don't know any details, but I assume he wasn't alone in that," Leto replied.

He honestly wasn't thinking about himself.

Claire couldn't help but raise her eyebrows at that. "Well, no, radio was pretty clear on that."

Her expression surprised him a little. "Does that surprise you?"

"Only insomuch as I got the vibe that you didn't really get along with him," Claire said.

He frowned a little, shaking his head. "We've had our disagreements, but I wouldn't say that," Leto replied.

Claire nodded. "Well... that's good then. That you're... friends."

Still surprised, Leto looked at her. "Well, thank you for your concern," he replied. "But had I disliked him I would have asked to be given a different room."

"Oh, I guess that makes sense," Claire said.

"Right," Leto said, suddenly feeling the need to change the subject. "My stepmother has arrived in Fandom."

"Is that good or bad?" Claire asked.

Leto wasn't completely sure yet.

"Irulan has decided to open a hat shop," he replied, avoiding the question a little. "She claims not to be here to keep an eye on me and my sister."

That was an interesting choice of words. "Does that mean you don't believe her?"

"She's not lying," Leto said. "But old habits die hard."

Claire smiled. "Sounds like she would get along well with my father."

"Oh?" Leto grinned. "What is your father like?"
