4th Floor Common Room - Sunday Late Evening

After Fight Club, Rose showered and then realised she was way too amped up still to think about either sleep or trying to reach Lissa again.

Instead she rummaged through the Common Room kitchen, finally finding a bag of microwavable popcorn and sticking it in to pop.

Five minutes later, the Common Room was full of the smell of burnt popcorn, and Rose was swearing at the microwave like it was all the machine's fault.

Which it was.  Really.

[Open cause it's a Common Room, rabbits!]

"Did you burn something?" Romeo asked, so incredibly polite as he wandered into the common room and started poking through the fridge for anything that looked like dinner.
withoutverona: (dream text)

"It's one of my special gifts," Romeo told her airily as he found some lunchmeat and bread for a sandwich. "Did you notice there's even a popcorn button?"

He had no idea why he was being a jerk, but it seemed to be where this conversation was going.
withoutverona: (B+W serious)

"Then the microwave's broken," Romeo decided brilliantly. "I think there's cleaning stuff under the sink."

"The microwave is conspiring against us," Alice noted cheerfully. "I blame the global conspiracy."

Sanity was for boring people.
withoutverona: (B+ W grin)

[personal profile] withoutverona 2009-06-15 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
"Alice," Romeo said, with a lazy smile. "I didn't know the global conspiracy involved microwaves."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Nor did I, until today," she agreed with a laugh. "Such terribly interesting things one learns. Perhaps we can intercept messages and discover which appliances started this mess."
withoutverona: (all stubbly and grrrr)

[personal profile] withoutverona 2009-06-15 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, but what sort of code would they speak in?" Romeo wondered.

[Sorry, timing fail - I have to crash.]

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Presumably beeps and boops and clicks," Alice mused. "We'd need to turn one of the appliances to our side, to work as a translator. One wonders what sort of bribery an appliance would take."

(totally fine, zomg. Night!)

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Alice poked her head into the common room.

"Did someone burn a bag of popcorn?" she asked.

She was quite familiar with the smell, having accomplished that particular feat a number of times herself.

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
"As well you should," Alice agreed. "Dreadfully confusing things. I've seen some that have buttons just for popcorn. Very helpful. If this microwave didn't bother, then it must have decided that your popcorn wasn't important, and it deserves the horrid smell."

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
"I wonder why not," Alice said, frowning at the microwave. "Perhaps it's broken. Or else it didn't like your popcorn. Or it might be part of a global microwave conspiracy. All microwaves must revolt, for the good of appliances everywhere."

User error was apparently for the sane weak in imagination.

"There's a fire extinguisher in the hall way." Diana said, walking in.

[identity profile] oops-mbad.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Diana sniffed. "You sure? Was there smoke?"

[identity profile] oops-mbad.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Diana rolled her eyes. "Was there thick, dark rolling smoke? Are you the reason the fire alarm whet off a few nights ago?"

"Dreadfully useful things, aren't they?" Alice said cheerfully. "I wonder why we don't have them in each room."

[identity profile] oops-mbad.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"At this school? We should." Diana said, sitting down on a chair and waiting for Samuel to jump in her lap. He glared until she picked him up.

[identity profile] notyourpawn.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
"They can't be terribly expensive, can they?" Alice frowned. "I wonder if Turtle sells them in her shop. She seems to sell everything else."

Barring duct tape, naturally.

[identity profile] oops-mbad.livejournal.com 2009-06-15 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"You'd think the school would just provide them." Diana said, trying to keep Samuel from using her chest as a climbing rack.
