third floor common room | morning | wednesday | july 1

Alex wasn't sure when Griff would be coming back from his trip so, since he had some sense of self preservation, he decided to make himself scarce. That included going one floor up and settling in a completely different common room then his own floor's. Griff could just make his discoveries on his own time. For now, Alex was sprawled on one of the couches, not quite hungover but not bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Of course, he wasn't ever really in that sort of mood. He was drinking (coffee) and eating (toast) and listening to some early morning news show that made no sense but it was noise and it kept him from falling asleep.

Despite it being morning, it was a vacation so Alex figured being up and lazy was allowed.

[open common room, of course. *goofs off at work*]

"Infinitely." Beating out an evening spent with her parents was... not all that hard, to be honest. Tony was another matter, and used to make those things bearable. But...

There was also the thing where she considered Alex not half bad company. But instead of saying that, she ate another handful of cereal.

Effy huffed a breath of amusement, and shook her head. "Let's go with the first one. It's almost like that makes us even."

"Go get your own fucking cookies," she told him, keeping up. It wasn't like the kitchen was far away. There was bound to be some.

... And Effy didn't have any to hand out, anyway.

"Or deal with over-processed cereal." Which she finally offered. Took her long enough.

"Not my cereal." Well, she'd only scrounged it out of the cupboards, after all. "And I think I'll pass. Thanks."

"Cooties, you know? Can't be too careful." Because she hadn't done things with him far more likely to involve the passing of cooties, or anything.

"You're also a little late to be worrying about that," she remarked, deciding he apparently didn't want cereal, and pulling it back to take some more. "Lucky for you, I'm all cootie free too."

Effy rolled her eyes, and took that as 'I do actually want food, yes', offering it his way again.

"Could've just said, 'I want some'."

"Hating people is a lot of fucking effort." Generally, unless they tried really hard, Effy didn't actually hate people. It was more idle disdain and passing annoyance, because people were sometimes dumb or irritating.

"That is sickening," Effy informed him, deciding to leave his emphatic retort alone. The girl has some sense in her.

"I'll bear that advice in mind," she said, smirking a little. She was fairly sure he didn't really want her following through on that.

"Sharing the same couch doesn't count, right?"

"I'm saying it doesn't." Because she was far too comfortable to bother going anywhere, and just curled her feet up onto the couch as she spoke, rubbing briefly at her tattoo. "Don't worry, not gonna try and make you move."

Hardly a germphobe, given the way she had been known to live when looking after her mum and Tony.

"I can tell," she said, nudging out her own foot at his encroachment. "Almost like you own the thing, with the taking over."

"My floor," she countered, and flicked at his foot. Not that she imagined he'd take that as any incentive to use up less space.
