third floor common room | morning | wednesday | july 1
Alex wasn't sure when Griff would be coming back from his trip so, since he had some sense of self preservation, he decided to make himself scarce. That included going one floor up and settling in a completely different common room then his own floor's. Griff could just make his discoveries on his own time. For now, Alex was sprawled on one of the couches, not quite hungover but not bright eyed and bushy tailed.
Of course, he wasn't ever really in that sort of mood. He was drinking (coffee) and eating (toast) and listening to some early morning news show that made no sense but it was noise and it kept him from falling asleep.
Despite it being morning, it was a vacation so Alex figured being up and lazy was allowed.
[open common room, of course. *goofs off at work*]

"Your own floor too boring for you?" she asked.

"I think we're just better up here."

"Somehow didn't quite appeal." School trip? Desert? Neither particularly inspired her,
and it would be all too IC to OD on Spice. She eventually found a half eaten box of Lucky Charms, and brought it with her as she flopped down on the couch, managing to avoid his feet. "And I'd rather spend my week here, than go home."

"I'd rather eat glass than walk around in a desert with a chaperone for a day and a half," he said dryly, finally settling on some old sitcom and dropping the remote again. "What's wrong with your home?"

Those little hotels could cause a lot of pain when used right. Not that he'd done that. Often.

Because, yes, he'd covered both sides of an index card (that had been folded and stuffed in his wallet) with various stamps. There was some white space but he'd just scrawled doodles or his names in those.

"You actually made me a stamp collection." That was unexpected. "Must've gotten really bored," she guessed. Didn't even smugly suggest it was almost sentimental, which was really very restrained, for Effy.

And she probably would stick it on her wall now, just because.
"Never knew you were such an artist," she added, eying the doodles with some amusement.

Keeping her snarky side squashed for long was effort.
