Third Floor Common Room [Thursday Afternoon]

The last few days had been busy and Claire took advantage of being on break to sleep in.

But once she was awake, she was restless and she decided to go to the common room and bake some cookies.

Rather than bother with trashy daytime TV, she cranked up the radio and danced around the kitchenette.

"Most of the time. Even with the stress of being away from Hilshire."

Claire nodded. "Yeah, I miss my mom a lot. But being here has it's upsides."

"It does."

She cocked her head slightly, "Any upsides in particular spring to mind?"

"Do you know Peter Petrelli?" she asked. "He's my uncle. And he kind of died back home."

"I think I've met him, I think." She grinned, "And I'm glad he's here for you."

"It's nice having him here to ust hang out with."

"I bet," Triela grinned. "Anyone else?"

"Oh, I've met so many great people here," Claire said. "Dinah, Jon, Sam, Dean, you, Ellie, Karla..."

"Then I'm glad you ended up coming."

"So am I."

Claire took the next batch of cookies out of the oven, using the mitts this time, and looked over at the other girl. "What about you? Are you glad you ended up here?"

"I think so. At least most of the time." Even when there were infuriating people like Leto around.

"I've met some pretty cool people here, too, after all."

"Everyone here seems really nice," Claire said.

"Everyone?" Triela asked with an amused grin.

"Okay, probably not everyone. But I can't think of anyone I met that hasn't been nice."

"That's better," Triela teased. "Though, truthfully, there aren't that many not-nice people around."

"And even the people aren't super nice are accepting," Claire said.

"What's that saying? 'People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones'?" Triela smirked. With all the people who had weird stuff going on, it would be hard for them to reject others for weirdness.

Claire chuckled. "Yeah, that's pretty apt around here."

"Isn't it?" Triela grinned. "I mean, around here, what would even constitute normal?"

"Maybe all the people with the abilities and stuff are normal and the people who would be considered normal elsewhere are weird?"

Or maybe that was too philosophical.

"I think that might be stretching things a bit," Triela chuckled.

Claire shrugged and grinned. "It was worth a try."

"I suppose it was." The kettle whistled and she pulled it off the heat. "You want some tea?"
