The Dorm Roof [Saturday evening]

Triela had actually carried two of her big black equipment bags up to the roof today. It wasn't really any more effort than doing one, after all, and hopefully there would be a number of people who needed gear.

She finished securing the ropes and started laying out the harnesses.

It had been too long since she'd done any really difficult rappelling work, and while this wasn't exactly an official sort of activity it was about the most organized such outing she'd been involved in at Fandom. She glanced over at Dinah. "You think with everyone out of the dorms anyone will show up? Or even notice?"

[Feel free to have handwavily had your character hear about exciting rappelling opportunities from either of the two blondes over the past week if you want an excuse to show up.]

After bribing Jon to look after her temporarily (she hoped) human teddy bear, Claire headed up to the dorm roof to meet Dinah and Triela.

"Hey, Claire," Triela waved when she spotted the other girl.

"Hi!" Claire waved back. "I'm so excited about this."

"I might have noticed that."

"I almost thought I wouldn't be able to come," Claire said. "My French teddy bear turned into a little girl. But I convinced Jon to watch her."

Triela frowned. "Is that a general problem?" She hadn't moved her collection into the cabins, and now she was hoping they hadn't all anthropomorphized.

Claire shrugged. "I have no idea. I poked my head in my room on my way up here and the rest were normal."

Triela let out a breath of relief. "Good."

She shook her head. "Anyway, do you want some help with your gear?"

Claire nodded. "Yes, please. I've never done this before."

"Well, the harness is pretty simple." Triela turned around in place so Claire could see hers. "You just have to make sure you've got all the straps on tight."

"Okay," Claire said, picking up a harness and strapping herself in.

Triela watched carefully. It was a pretty intuitive system, but that didn't mean you didn't double-check. "Good," she nodded when she was satisfied that Claire wouldn't fall out of it.

Claire grinned. She wasn't totally concerned about falling out given the whole healing thing. But still. "Anything else I need to do?"

"Hey!" Dinah waved at her roommate, and grinned. "What kept you?"

"One of my teddy bears is randomly human," Claire explained. "I had to bribe Jon to keep her. She's a cute little French girl."

"..." Dinah blinked at her, then laughed. "Okay, that's new. I've heard of people turning into stuff, not stuff turning into people."

"I'm really, really hoping that it's temporary," Claire said.

Dinah snickered. "If she's here longer than a week or so, you'd probably have to register her. But hopefully it's just a couple days. Has anyone else's stuff done this? More new people around?"

"She's too young to be a student here," Claire said. "And I'm not sure. No one else I talked to had it happen, but I did see some unfamiliar faces around the cabins."

Dinah shook her head. "I will never look at your teddy bears the same way again." She grinned. "Ready to jump?"

"They all go in the closet if anything... dirty... ever happens in our room," Claire said. "And, yes. I am so ready to jump."

Dinah chortled, and said, "Definitely! Okay, get in position." She headed for the edge of the roof, careful not to tangle her line. "Slow and steady the first time."

Claire followed her to the edge and double-checked her harness. "Got it."

Dinah leaned back far at the edge of the roof, and got a good grip on the rope. "Okay, like this. And don't look down just yet." She grinned. "It's better when you've done it once already."

"Okay," Claire grinned, mimicking Dinah's stance.
