Wendy the Werewolf Stalker Campfire, Saturday Evening

Firekeeper would simply not be doing her name justice if she ignored the presence of the firepits by the cabins.

So here she was, sitting by a crackling fire with Blind Seer sprawled by her side. Of course, a good campfire should have food to offer, which is why there was a rabbit and a couple of fish (the furred kind, although they'd been skinned first, of course) roasting on a spit over the fire.

There would be no marshmallows here unless someone else thought to bring some.

Priestly had no marshmellows. He was, however, in a fairly social mood.

"Blysse! How's it going?"

"There is much food! So, it go well." It really didn't take terribly much to please her.

"Food is good!" Priestly agreed. "Food is very good. What've ya got, then?"

"Rabbit," she pointed. He'd be able to tell it was rabbit because that was the one with legs. "Also, fish." That'd be the one without legs.

"Huh. You know, I've never tried rabbit."

"Francine say is not a usual food in your world," Firekeeper said with a nod. "If you wish to try, is almost done."

"Well, it's not as common as, like, beef, but people still eat it." Priestly shrugged. "And sure. I'm down with trying new things."

Firekeeper grinned and took the rabbit from the fire, pulling her Fang from its sheath on her side to slice Priestly a good-sized piece.

"I bringed pepper," she gestured with one hand to the small shaker resting on the ground. "Because I know humans is fond of spices, but I not know what others would go with this meat."

Wow, yeah, that was really clearly a dead rabbit.

Slightly offputting for the kid from Santa Cruz.

"Pepper's usually a good call," he said, taking the meat carefully. "Thanks."

Tahiri came out of the cabin after another call home, datapad and comlink still in her hands as she sat down near Firekeeper.

"Well, that's a change from hot dogs."

Firekeeper shrugged. "I prefer meat that I know what is," she admitted.

"I don't think I blame you for that." Tahiri eyed her datapad thoughtfully, then set it aside with a tiny groan. "Can I get some of the fish?"

"Of course! Is why I catch many to cook," Firekeeper said with a grin.

For lack of a plate, Tahiri dug a piece of flimsi out of one of her belt pouches. "I'm starving," she admitted. Which . . . yes, still not eating all that regularly might have something to do with it.

"Because you not eat," Firekeeper said sternly. She didn't bother to add that Tahiri was not actually starving despite her less than responsible eating habits, because that wasn't the point. The point was as someone who actually had spent a good portion of her life starving, she felt quite strongly about eating when food was available. Which Tahiri very clearly wasn't doing.

"I haven't been all that hungry," Tahiri protested, but the helping of fish she took didn't back up that claim.

Firekeeper just gave her a Look. "There is no truth there," she said. "Is important to keep your strength up. Not eating make you weak. Easy prey."

"Oh, sure, put it that way," Tahiri muttered, picking at the fish -- and, yes, making a decent effort to actually eat it. "It's a pain when you're right sometimes, you know that?"

Priestly waved from where he was trying to decide whether or not to actually try to eat what was clearly a dead rabbit.

"Hey," Tahiri said; she'd picked her datapad back up again and was studying it intently, fingers drumming against the edge. "It's been a while -- Priestly, right?"

Priestly nodded. "Tahiri?"

"That's me." Tahiri smiled slightly. "Not sure you want to chance the food?"

"Well, I'm usually down with trying anything. But it's a little disconcerting that it has recognizable legs."

"At least it's not still alive," Tahiri suggested. "Recognizable legs that still kick would be worse."

Priestly's eyes went wide. "Wow. Yeah. That would definitely be worse."
