The Valley Campfire: Monday Afternoon

Anyone coming across the campfire today would find Layla sprawled out on a blanket as she traced a convuluted route on a map of the Northeastern part of the United States. She was lying on her stomach with her feet up in the air as she munched on a snack of raisins and goldfish crackers

And while a fire wasn't lit in the firepit, there was a cooler of drinks and some goodies from J'GOB sitting on top of them for visitors to enjoy.

[Open campfire is open]

"They would have supped well," Tybalt sniffed, crossing his arms over his chest and attempting to look as nonchalant about the entire situation as was humanly possible.

He was mostly coming up short in that regard, sadly.

"Madness. This entire island is madness."

"In mine own defense," Tybalt replied, "I did spend the past several nights as wet cat food."

"Perhaps I've been inclined to ignore the thickest of the lunacy that I've been subjected to since my arrival here." A pause. A frown. "The walking dead at the bar were a shock."

See? He was conceding that this place was insane and he'd actually noticed it at some point! This was... Kind of like a step in the proper direction. Or something.

Well. There was a pleasant thought to continue his day on.

"Well, then I suppose I ought to be basking in my timing most fortunate?"

"Trouble and I are comfortable bedmates," Tybalt replied. At least trouble made some lick of sense. Weirdness? Not so much. "Thou hast a better suggestion, then?"

"Should the Montagues ever learn a proper respect for my own kin, perhaps I'll even take such advice into consideration," Tybalt mused. That she knew so damn much was almost little more than an uncomfortable truth, now. She was Layla Miller. She knew stuff. Very well. "I've more pride in the name of Capulet than I have any desire to seek peace with their ilk."

"Pride is everything." Tybalt's hands slid easily into his pockets, and his shoulders relaxed as he spoke of a topic with which he was at least well familiar. "Should the fates deign to strip me of my fortune and freedom, at least my pride is something that will follow me, and as far as the grave, should my life come to that."

"If none are to escape the grave, then who am I to attempt to tamper with destiny? Someday, my life will end. I'll have my name when I die. None can take that from me, try though they might."

"Not," Tybalt said, notably more pleasantly now than before, "if I am to continue turning into pet food at the whims of this island, no."
