"Alright!" Zack crossed his arms over his chest and grinned at the people gathered for the reserves meeting today. "Last week we covered some different methods of defense, and then we shared our own strategies with the, uh... class."

Sometimes, Zack's analogies fell a little short, yes.

"This week, I want us to focus on honing our physical abilities a little more. It doesn't matter where you're fighting, you'll probably get tossed a few obstacles on the battlefield from time to time. You might not be used to getting a foothold in the sand, if you're fighting on the beach. You could be stuck in the preserve, tripping over roots and whatever else is hidden under those leaves. The junkyard is full of scrap and whatever else we've just tossed away, and the ground is hardly stable there as a result. Maybe you're chasing after an enemy who knows his way around a cityscape, and he's climbing walls and jumping fences while you're lagging behind."

For a guy who could jump ten feet in the air from a standstill, Zack was still known to fall victim to the horrors of the insurmountable waist-high fence from time to time. Not. Fair.

"So, what I want you guys to do today is grab a partner or two, and then head off to some corner of the island which has terrain that you guys aren't used to working with. And then I want you to chart a course, maybe a hundred meters or so, and run it. If you wind up stumbling, backtrack and do it again until you make it through. If you have any problems, come talk to me afterward, and I'll see what I can do about setting up some kind of practise session with you in the future."

Leto just gave a short nod in reply to that. "How was your week?" he continued, changing the subject.

"I was a puppy," Zack reported, his smile turning to a grin. "A little rottweiler, I think. I'm not really a professional on dogs, but I think I was cute, at least."

That was important!

That was worthy of a grin. "I'm sure you were. Did you get a lot of attention?" He had as a lion, after all.

"Deadpool took care of me," Zack replied, laughing a little. "So I got to play with Max, his fox? And Tether, who I think is Cable's dog. Oh, and Jan! She put bows in my fur."

Zack's masculinity hadn't suffered in the least at all of those pretty, pretty ribbons, no.

Clearly not. "Deadpool? The... odd man in the red suit?"

"That's the one!"

Oh, there were undertones of hero worship in that statement, yes.

"He always talks about someone named Angelina," Leto replied. That still didn't make sense to him. "And he assumes I know her."

"He just calls me a puppy a lot," Zack noted, rubbing at the back of his head. "I think that means I get to blame being a dog for a few days on him. Maybe? I don't know. I didn't mind too much, anyhow. There are worse things to be than a puppy, right?"

Like, oh, a tree? Well thought-out statement there, Zack.

"Possibly," Leto replied non-committally. The puppy analogy made more sense than talking about an unknown woman, though.

"I think mostly, it's just easier to ignore the weird stuff," Zack offered helpfully. "He's not a bad guy when you can get past all his weird random references to theme music and stuff."

"Ah." Leto had always been caught up in the weird references.

He nodded towards the people gathered. "I wonder how they will deal with a real emergency now."

"Hopefully with a cool head and a decent idea as to how to keep themselves safe," Zack mused, crossing his arms over his chest and looking at those assembled. "If that's all we get out of these meetings, that'll be good enough for me."
