Despite protests to the contrary, Edmund did listen to the radio on occasion. Last night he didn't like what he'd heard. He hadn't been affected by the rash of bad dreams, but it was troubling nonetheless. There was also nothing you could do about bad dreams - no way to fight and nothing to fight with short of a glass of warm milk and leaving a night light on. It might have been nothing, but in Fandom something occurring around the island usually wasn't nothing.

So here he stood and watched. If all was normal, then good, but he wasn't about to be caught unaware if something that was the cause of the bad dreams did storm the school. He was in for a long wait.

"Haven't been sleeping well," Jo replied, sipping her coffee. "Weird dreams."

Edmund frowned. "I heard. You're not alone it seems. It's troubling."

"Tell me about it," Jo said. "I'm worried I'm going to crack and start trying to bless the swimming pool for real."

Yes, she was still hung up on that.

"You blessed the swimming pool?" Edmund said, not understanding at first. Then he realised. "In your dream?"

"Uh huh." Jo nodded, putting her mug down. "It makes sense if you wanted a lot of holy water in a little time. But still, swimming pool."

Holy water. That was a strange thing to dream about. "So you were a member of the clergy in your dream?"

"No, I was me," Jo said, shaking her head. "Well, close enough. Anyone can bless water if they know the right ritual."

Ed filed that little bit of information away for later. A small smile formed on his lips. "Maybe it's your mind telling you to go to confession."

"Problem there is I haven't done anything requiring that in far too long," Jo said.

"I think Bosley would disagree," he countered. "Or Charlie."

"Gremlin bites don't count," Jo replied archly. Well, as archly as you could when you were face-palming.

"Are you sure?"

"They do, otherwise we'd never get anything done."

"I humbly concede the point," he said, bowing his head slightly. "At least your dream was only a dream and not a gremlin bite."

"You say that now, but those little bastards are probably behind this."

He pondered that thought for a few seconds. "Low dose of gremlin venom?"

"In the water, which is why not everyone is effected."

"Sounds like a possibility," Edmund admitted. "Something to keep in mind if it keeps happening. With any luck, tonight will be peaceful."

"Well, if you start dreaming about hustling people in order to swap chores with them, we'll know it's spreading."

"That's something very specific to dream about."

"It wasn't even to get out of chores, just to do ones I liked more." Jo was most perplexed.

"Have you had more than one dream about this?"

"Lately yeah," Jo said. "I really am leaning towards gremlin spit in the water."

"We could get someone to test it."

"Got any volunteers in mind?"
