Leto had actually made some plans for this meeting, in case Arthur and Zack would still be asleep, although if they had been, there would certainly have been a lot fewer people showing up.

Those plans were now pointless, however. There was no way he would put people through defining the goals of defensive tactics today. Clearly those who had spend their weekend in another reality were a little too emotional to deal with that now. Leto knew that from experience; he had spent the previous day being bitched at (hello Arthur!) or hugged and cried on. It was obvious that people needed some kind of emotional outlet today.

Also, it seemed like some people had trust issues after having run into alternate vampire versions of themselves. That could prove dangerous in a fighting situation.

"Good afternoon," he greeted everyone gathered. "Today we will work on what I believe is referred to in this time as team-building. Without loyalty and trust - both of leaders and of fellow warriors - a military unit is nothing. Where that trust is strong and army may rise about their actual level of fighting skill."

"Often this loyalty has been nurtured by shared pain and suffering. A guerilla group might have faced persecution together for a long time. Many forms of military training forces the warriors to endure severe hardships together in order to achieve something similar."

Leto smiled. "Today, I decided for a more playful and gentle approach. We will start with a shared meal. Eating together is a sign of friendship in many cultures. First, you need to divide the food." He gestured at a blanket on the ground with a large fruit bowl in the middle. "It needs to be divided equally, but for every fruit you take, you need to tell the group something significant about yourself."

"When the food has been divided, you may eat, but you may not feed yourself, only other people."

He watched the people gathered. "Any questions?"

"Good," he nodded, because it wasn't like he couldn't deal with this, right? "You?"

"Not so much." Dinah smiled though, and nudged his arm with her elbow. "Getting better. A bit."

She was brave to admit it. "Yeah. Hear it takes time." And maybe a decent night light.

"And good friends. Solid food." Dinah reached out for his arm, if he wouldn't flinch away. "Reminds me what's real now."

He didn't flinch. There was plenty of light out today and plenty of people around. "Solid food not made of flesh," he added. "I sort of understand the appeal of vegetarianism these days."

"Me too," Dinah said fervently. "Soup's good. Pasta. Cheese. I love cheese." She squeezed Griffin's arm. "Muffins and cookies and all. I think I'm taking a huge cache of donuts to the other two reserve meetings, to thank everyone for researching how to get us out of there."

"Right!" He hadn't even thought. "I didn't realize there were probably people here working, too." It was sad how out of the loop he'd been, waking up in the dorms rather than the clinic hall.

"Yeah. And people taking care of them, making sure the doctors and researchers ate and slept, so... We're lucky people here are so cool," Dinah said, having it hit her again. She let her hair fall in her face. "Lucky all over." She shook her head. "You-- someone took care of you while you were there, right?" Dinah had been a little preoccupied with not eating people and not getting killed by other vampires to check on anyone else real well.

"Uh, sort of," he said, not sure if taking care of was the right phrase. "Karev and Rose were a big help. I was on the busy side of things most of the time."

"Busy?" Realizing that was not a good question, Dinah said quickly, "You don't have to tell me. I'm sorry. I'm glad they were helping you, though. Karla took care of me."

"It's okay, I was doing what I could to fight, you know, the ones not like us?" It wasn't so bad when she already knew what he was talking about so he could be nice and vague.

"Yeah," Dinah said, knowing exactly what he meant. "I, um. Fought a couple." She looked over at Leto, then away. "Just to even the odds, and all. Not easy. Or fun."

"I lucked out," he shrugged, "having a bit of an advantage and all." Because it was great knowing you could teleport behind someone and stab them to death before they even noticed.

"Yeah. I kept fighting Eleanor. Who's a fire mage." Dinah made a face. "But she was immune. So. I couldn't finish her. But I guess it doesn't matter now."

"Yeah, I had this one guy kept multiplying so for every one I staked, two more would show up." It had been beyond annoying.

"Jamie," Dinah said on a falling note. "He was my Big Sib when I got here. Um. He left school here in May, to be with his girlfriend the ninja. Selling Slushies in the desert." And she had to remind herself that that's what happened. "I think I saw a few of him in that last fight, yeah."

"Sorry," Griff looked down. This was another reason not to talk about things.

Dinah looked at him, and winced. "No, I'm sorry. You didn't need to know that." She sighed. "Except he really, really is okay. And he'd be the first person to tell you it was okay too. Well, no, he'd crack a lot of jokes and trip you, then he'd tell you that one million of him was enough." She grinned weakly. "Stuff keeps hitting me, you know?"

"Um, I think I do, yeah," he agreed, knowing her friend thought himself very funny even when he was evil and playing baseball with a skull. "Sorry it's so awkward. I just don't know what to say anymore."

"Yeah," Dinah said quietly. "Um. Would a hug do, to substitute for talking that's awkward?"

"Hugs from you are always welcome, Dinah," he told her, smiling juuuust a bit more.

"Yay." Big hug, no reservations. Because like Zack said, everyone who'd been there deserved hugs.
