Behind the Dorms, Tuesday Afternoon
Leto had actually made some plans for this meeting, in case Arthur and Zack would still be asleep, although if they had been, there would certainly have been a lot fewer people showing up.
Those plans were now pointless, however. There was no way he would put people through defining the goals of defensive tactics today. Clearly those who had spend their weekend in another reality were a little too emotional to deal with that now. Leto knew that from experience; he had spent the previous day being bitched at (hello Arthur!) or hugged and cried on. It was obvious that people needed some kind of emotional outlet today.
Also, it seemed like some people had trust issues after having run into alternate vampire versions of themselves. That could prove dangerous in a fighting situation.
"Good afternoon," he greeted everyone gathered. "Today we will work on what I believe is referred to in this time as team-building. Without loyalty and trust - both of leaders and of fellow warriors - a military unit is nothing. Where that trust is strong and army may rise about their actual level of fighting skill."
"Often this loyalty has been nurtured by shared pain and suffering. A guerilla group might have faced persecution together for a long time. Many forms of military training forces the warriors to endure severe hardships together in order to achieve something similar."
Leto smiled. "Today, I decided for a more playful and gentle approach. We will start with a shared meal. Eating together is a sign of friendship in many cultures. First, you need to divide the food." He gestured at a blanket on the ground with a large fruit bowl in the middle. "It needs to be divided equally, but for every fruit you take, you need to tell the group something significant about yourself."
"When the food has been divided, you may eat, but you may not feed yourself, only other people."
He watched the people gathered. "Any questions?"
[Wait for OCD! OCD is up!]

How did these clowns get put in charge of a fighting unit in the first place. (Never mind that they'd organized it and she hadn't, or that they had a much better grasp of leadership than she did...)

Blind Seer was wondering if he had to take part in the exercise. For one, he couldn't speak in a way that most would understand. And two... he didn't eat fruit.

Yeah. Feeding people, weird. And if there were grapes in there, she was going to insist until she was blue in the face that Leto done this with a particularly dirty angle in mind.

Re: Arrive and mingle!
She lingered around the edges, hoping nobody would mind if she joined. Feeding other people sounded very ... soothing, after her weekend.
Divide the food
Re: Divide the food
"Okay. Um. When we went to Arrakis, I ended up dreaming a lot of people's dreams, um, sharing them? Because of the Spice there. So I've kind of stopped drinking as much caffiene or alcohol or anything else, so it won't happen again."
There. Yay.

"I'm an artist. I've sketched and painted most of my life," she said in a quiet voice.
Re: Divide the food
"I can feel strong emotions when they get trapped in wood or stone," she said eventually. "If I arrive soon after those emotions are felt, I can pull them out and reconstruct the event that just caused them."

"I'm a bard. I travel and write down stories of the things I've seen."
Re: Divide the food
Eventually, she went with, "I learned how to use my gun, because I was almost shot once, practically in cold blood, and I never want to feel that defenseless, or have anyone else have to feel that defenseless, again."
And then she almost went and took a bite of the apple, because, in her head, it made more sense to share than eat, but she caught herself right before she violated the catch, lowered the apple sheepishly.

"I'm a twin, and my brother, Eliot, is at another school."
She took the ickiest looking fruit in the bowl, figuring she wouldn't be able to taste it anyway.
Re: Divide the food
Re: Divide the food
"I'm not used to sharing because it usually gets me and other people in trouble when I do. I'm protective of my drawings because when I was nine my favorites were stolen off my walls." There, that was significant to him and he took a piece of fruit.

"I always kinda find this thing to be pretty tricky, actually. I'm not much for keeping secrets." He considered for a moment. "Which I guess doesn't count, so I'll share that my blue eyes aren't really natural. They're this bright because of a treatment that everyone in SOLDIER gets put through when we join, back home."
See? That was significant!
Re: Divide the food
She decided to leave out that she sometimes killed people for her job. That one was less of a crowd-pleaser.

Talk to the guys
Re: Talk to the guys
Awww, team-building! He had to hand it to this particular Leto, this was an excellent way to ease back into the reserves meeting after the events of last week.
