The Deck [Saturday Night]

It had been a weird day, between the guy at the diner freaking out and Dinah heading out of town. Claire decided to head out to the deck with a pitcher of iced tea and enjoy the evening.

She idly considered building a fire, but decided against it because of the heat.

"Hey," Ellie replied, waving back. "Nice night, huh?"

"If a little warm," Jennifer said. "Almost reminds me of home."

Ellie nodded. "At least the humidity isn't so bad back home."

"That's a good point," Jennifer said. "Guess it's cause we're further north?"

Ellie shrugged. "And drier, I guess."

"Which is almost odd, because we're on an island," Jennifer said.

"Well, this is the weirdest island ever," Ellie said.

"It is," Jennifer said. "But we love it any way, right?"

"Oh yeah," Ellie replied. "It's definitely the most interesting place I've ever been to."

"And hopefully, it'll stay the most," Jennifer said. "I don't think I could handle some place more interesting." She laughed.

Ellie laughed as well. "I am not sure any other place could top this one for weirdness. And you know, I kinda like it that way."

"Me too," Jennifer said. "It sure beats normal school."

"Yeah, and this school has the added bonus of not having my brother's annoying best friend as a student," Ellie snickered.
