3rd Floor Common Room; Tuesday morning, super early

Elle had a nightmare about giant mutant alligators. Again. This so had to stop because it was affecting her beauty sleep. Since she was awake and couldn't go back to sleep, she donned her robe and fluffy slippers, and trying not to wake her roommate or Bruiser, shuffled out and down to the common room.

It was still dark outside and she should be sound asleep, dreaming nice dreams about that cute boy in that funny movie she'd watched recently. With a little pout, she turned on the TV, kept it on mute so she didn't wake anyone up, and curled up on the sofa. Maybe she'd get up in a minute and make some muffins. For now she was content to flip through the channels, searching for something that'd take her mind off of alligators.

[[ It's almost 4am EST here. I haven't slept yet which means I'm loopy. But, la, post is open, such as it is. ]]

Leto had woken early too, and he had also been troubled by dreams, although not the kind involving mutant alligators. Breakfast would be a good thing.

"Good morning," he said to Elle as he entered the common room, heading towards the kitchen area.

Elle jerked upright, eyes a bit wide. She was jumpy from that dream and didn't expect anyone else to be up this early.

"Oh. Good morning, Leto. It's early," she stated lamely. "Can't sleep?"

"No," he said, not elaborating further. "I'm making coffee. There will be enough for two."

"Me either," she said, bottom lip turning down a little. It was obvious she couldn't, but excuse her for not thinking clearly. "Coffee sounds nice."

Leto gave a small nod and fell silent, busying himself with preparing coffee. When finished, he placed a cup in front of Elle, then sat down on the couch. His own coffee had the cinnamon-like scent of Spice.

She reached for her cup, wrapping both hands around it. "Thank you, Leto." Elle blew across the surface before she took a careful sip. "Mm, it's good. I smell cinnamon? But I don't taste it."

He shot her a glance, amused. "Not cinnamon. Spice. And I only added it to my coffee. I won't be responsible for making you addicted."

"Ah," she nodded, remembering their discussion when first introduced. "So you said, once." There was a tiny smile. "Don't worry; I won't ask for a sip. A little taste-test, if you will. That would hardly be addicting, but I won't ask." Elle put her fuzzy slippered feet up on the coffee table and crossed them at the ankles.

"Not worth the risk," Leto replied, in a voice that celarly said he didn't want to be questioned. "Where is your pet?"

Elle turned wary eyes on him, at that tone. She wasn't going to question him; if anything she'd just been messing with him because she knew he wasn't about to let her have any.

"In my room, sleeping. I wasn't about to wake him just to keep me company." She took another sip of her coffee. "I would have appreciated it considering the reason I'm in here."

"That is considerate of you," Leto replied, turning his head to look at Elle. "What woke you up this early?"

She shrugged a small shoulder. "I try." It was true. "A bad dream."

Stupid dreams. Stupid alligators.

Smiling a little, Leto said: "Then I hope it was just a dream."

"It was. But it was real too." She shuddered and knocked her knees together tightly. "Why did you wake up?"

"Real?" He frowned a little. Elle didn't strike him as a person who had visionary dreams. "I just woke up and couldn't go back to sleep."

His own dreams he preferred to keep private.

[and I have to go for an hour or so]

"I know what I dreamt about was real. That they exist." Too many now confirmed the alligators were real. She frowned, however. "I wonder if it means anything that the dream is repetitive? Try as I might to focus on something else when I go to bed, going so far as to sleep with the lucky scrunchie, nothing works."

She didn't want to talk about it anymore.

"Maybe you can get in a nap later." Elle gave him a small smile and reached over to try and pat his knee. It was awful at times, not being able to sleep.

"That's... interesting. How do you know?" Leto asked, a little more curious. But then he shugged, smiling again. "Compensatory nap? Perhaps." He squeezed her hand lightly, as she seemed comfortable with touch.

"Because I've been told. It's how the dreams started in the first place." She shook her head lightly, closing her eyes tight for a moment to get the image out of her head. Since she's never atually seen a giant mutant alligator, the one in her head was super scary omigod.

"Can we talk about something else now?" She asked, turning her hand up to squeeze his in return, the movement gentle.

"Of course." Leto took a long sip of his coffee. "Are you settling in here?"

"I think so. I have a job now, which is super nice, and I'm only homesick like every other day instead of everyday. And omigod, Leto, I was a kitten for a week. I know, it's hard to believe, right?"

"Well, no, not here," Leto said, with a grin. "I've been a tree twice. Where do you work?"

There was a slight blonde headtilt. "A tree? Seriously?" Omigod. "Cabot and Associates. It's the lawfirm in town and it's an awesome job. Super educational. Do you work anywhere?"

"A lawfirm? And no, I don't, although my stepmother would probably be delighted if I offered her assistance." He looked amsued at the thought. "I do organise the reserves together with Arthur and Zack, though."

"Good morning." Leto smiled back.
