Behind the Dorms, Tuesday Afternoon
Huh. No Arthur to be seen, which meant that Zack was going to step up to the Reserves-Leader-Plate again, grinning a little. He kinda loved taking charge! So what?
"So, since we're hopefully starting to get into the swing of things again, this week we're going to talk about our weapons. Again!"
Why not?
"Every weapon has strengths and weaknesses. My sword, for example, has excellent reach because of its size, but it sacrifices manoeuvrability as a result. An arrow is better for ranged attacks, but weather conditions like rain or wind might affect your aim. Some weapons might rust in certain weather. And being on an island, well, we're prone to that kind of weather, yes. So what we're going to do today is try to come up with one example of a shortcoming of our weapon of choice, and how we're going to account for it!"
Zack then motioned to a cardboard box over by the wall.
"And please, please take a bag of Oreo cookies with you when you go. For you, for a friend, whatever. I might have bought a few too many."
A few cases too many.
[The Reserves are, as always, open to one and all!]

"...is it okay if I join?" she said.

"We've got people of all experience levels, honest," he assured her. "The whole point of this group is to improve. If you say you're going to try hard to get better, well, then that's good enough for me!"

Re: Talk to the Guys!
He would have decided this while talking to anyone, naturally. But considering the one request that Shulkie had given him before... sending him back here?
"Sparring, weapons training, going over strategies, you name it!"

He wasn't going to add that her other self had carried a stake, in the other Fandom. Of that she'd seemed kind of fond of heavy things that she could smack vampires around with. That part seemed a little... Too much.
"You might as well. There's a certain level of discipline involved in mastering a weapon, too. It might help."

"Well, I'm most familiar with a sword," he noted, "but if you're wary of something like that, maybe a staff would suit you better? There's no risk of you accidentally cutting somebody if you're swinging a stick around and you lose your temper, you know?"
Re: Talk to the Guys!
Re: Talk to the Guys!
"You're asking a guy who's broken way, way too many swords in training already," he noted. "I should say a sword, because they're metal and not wood. But we could probably find you a metal staff, too, so that argument is sorta void."

Re: Talk to the Guys!
He sounded kind of proud of that, now. Which was funny, considering the sword breaking meant that he'd pretty much lost that fight, and his mentor had needed to step in to keep him from getting killed.
Re: Talk to the Guys!
She was impressed.
Re: Talk to the Guys!
No, really. He had. He wasn't going to share where. Nope. Or, if she asked, he'd tell her about Angeal, or Sephiroth. See? Stronger. Easy!

"This is Fandom. It probably won't be too long before monsters invade again. You'll get to see me whip out my sword in no time!"

Re: Talk to the Guys!
"It'll certainly be a learning experience!"
Don't mention it, Zack.
Just blush a little, instead. Yes. very good.
