roof | evening | august 21 | friday

With summer classes over, Alex found himself gravitating to the roof again for a celebration. Okay, he was on the roof to smoke. He knew he could have gone out, gone to the mainland or something but he didn't feel particularly like doing that so he'd stayed local and gone to the roof.

He hopped up onto the edge, feet dangling over the side and pulled out the cigarettes. He had absolutely no idea what he was going to do next week especially with half of the people he talk with off island for one reason or the other. Maybe he'd just go on a bender somewhere. Who knows, if he got really lucky, he'd run into his father in one of those bars. Fun times.

[roof is open!]

"Stargazing," Emma deadpanned. "Considering you're on the roof of a dorm."

"I knew you were a clever girl," Triela laughed. Then shrugged. "Actually, I've never even had to break out a rifle for real here at Fandom, so it's mostly just habit. But better safe than sorry and all that."

What appeared to be a white tiger cub--but was certainly far superior to such a breed--with dark blue painted claws padded over to weave around Triela's ankles a few times before curling up to Emma's chair.

She was growling friendly-like, which meant scritches were likely okay.

"And where did you come from?" Triela asked with a smirk.

The cat just lifted up her head. Laying against the white fur of her chest was a small Sapphire pendant. She assumed that would be enough for Triela, so she laid her head back down and made more noises.

Scritches please!

Triela eyed the jewel for a moment, then grinned slightly. "I'd recognize that shameless behavior anywhere," she teased as she extended her hand. Triela wasn't really much of an animal person so she didn't have a lot of experience scritching things. It didn't even occur to her that you couldn't do it properly while wearing gloves. Even as thin and well-fitted as Triela's were.

Karla scowled and head-butted Triela's hand several times. Proper scritches need fingernails!

Triela really, really wasn't good at this. She had no idea what cat!Karla was trying to get at. She tried doing some more gloved scritching.

Karla reached up and tried to catch Triela's hand with her paw. She kept the claws in, though. See? Love.

Choosing not to damage the gloves was probably a good thing as far as not getting yelled at went. Not that she'd ever admit it, but Triela was totally a clotheshorse. The pause did cause Triela to pause and cock her head. Did Karla want her to stop?

"Mmmrrr..." Karla was getting exasperated now.

[Okay if she just vanishes the glove?]

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Fortunately Triela had plenty of patience so she just sat there waiting for Karla to say or do something helpful.

[Go for it! Though Triela will not be pleased until she receives ample reassurance that she's getting it back. ;)]

Eventually, Karla just got aggravated and vanished the glove right off Triela's hand. "Mrrrow," she mewed, pleased.

Proper scritches now, please.

Triela's entire body tensed. But this was Karla, so... "You are going to give that back, aren't you?" she asked quietly.

Karla huffed a bit and called the glove back in--directly under her front paw. However, it was clearly hovering an inch or so above the ground, so as not to get it dirty.

The expression on her little kitty face suggested that Triela would get her glove back after Karla got her scritches.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Triela nodded in firm satisfaction and went back to scritching. The fact that she just about always wore gloves didn't mean that she didn't keep extremely good care of her nails. They were short and serviceable, but hopefully they'd be enough to satisfy Karla.

Karla leaned into the scritches, a happy expression on her little kitty face. And she was purr-growling again.

Eventually, she slid the glove back over. Triela was still more than welcome to scritch, but she deserved the gove back.

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2009-08-23 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
That brought a small smile to Triela's face. She slipped the glove into her pocket and kept up the mechanical motion. She really wasn't good at this, but she could do repetitive motions.

Karla made sure to keep up the positive reinforcement, increasing the volume of the purrs and occasionally nuzzling Triela when she scritched just right.

At least Triela was a rather quick study. Fortunately, scritching wasn't too difficult a skill to pick up on.
