Third Floor Common Room, Friday Afternoon

It was Kate’s last day as one of the new kids. She was celebrating this by sitting in the third floor common room with some candy and a volume of manga.

Okay, so maybe ’celebrating’ wasn’t quite the right word, but at least she was happy.

"He's adorable," Kate grinned. "And he took care of me the week I was a cat, so I have no complaints. Who are you rooming with?"

"George Sands," Jennifer said. "He's sweet, and a really nice guy. Kinda really awkward, though."

"I don't think I've met him." A beat. "Oh, no, wait. I think he was in my film class, but I didn't talk to him. Just another person I didn't manage to introduce myself to before tomorrow."

"Well, feel free to stop by my room, any time," Jennifer said. "George could use with more girls in his life, I think. Help him... relax a little."

"Which one is your room, by the way?" Kate asked. "Me and Bobby are in 324."

"510," Jennifer said. "My little home away from home."

"Emphasis on little," Kate smirked. "I spent a few days at home over last weekend and my room there looked huge compared to the one here. Not that I don't like the dorms."

"Oh, I know that feeling," Jennifer said. "But I think they frown on us knocking down walls."

"Yeah, I don't think they'd appreciate us doing any remodeling in the dorms," Kate chuckled. "Plus, the next-door neighbours might have something to say about it, too."

"Yeah," Jennifer said. "So here's hoping I never get too angry and put my fist through a wall." She chuckled.

"That would also have the possibility of actually punching someone on the other side," Kate grinned. "Which would help distract them from what you'd have done to their wall."

Jennifer pulled a face. "Accidentally punching people is a bad thing. Especially when I'm strong enough to break trees."

"...It would distract them forever?" Kate offered.

"Wow, I guess it really is best that you're kept cool and happy."

"Sort of, yeah," Jennifer said. "I mean, nobody should try to make me angry, that's for sure."

"Which should really be a basic rule for all interaction anyways," Kate noted. "You're not especially easily irritated, are you?"

"Not really," Jennifer said. "Which is good, because if I changed all the time, I'd go poor from buying new clothes."

"Oh right, because there's that too," Kate realized. "So, do you have a stash of larger clothes?"

Jennifer nodded. "Just a couple things. Enough to get by."

"Does it take long before you turn back to normal?"

"Sometimes," Jennifer said. "I'm not entirely sure how it works, yet."

"Well, you'll probably figure it out eventually," Kate said, and remembering she had a bag of candy with her, offered it to Jennifer. "Want some candy?"

"Oh, thanks," Jennifer said. "Can't say no to free candy, right?"

"I know I can't," Kate grinned. "Or anything free that's eatable."

"Well, you came to the right school," Jennifer said.

"So I've noticed," Kate chuckled. "The amount of free food here is insane. Too bad a lot of it isn't exactly healthy."
