2nd Floor Common Room, Monday Evening

Needing lots of room in order to work, Jean had commandeered a common room for great high school politics justice.

One needed space in order to make a bunch of posters telling people to vote for her. Ooo! Glitter! They needed to have glitter on them too.

But only a classy amount. Nothing gaudy.

[[Open common room is so very open]]

Her correction of her statement only drove home the point that language here was carelessly used and wasn't corrected. It was still an innate thing for him to try and correct, make it sound truthful in his head.

"Is it hard to attend this school?" he asked, a little quieter than he'd been speaking before.

"Not even a little," she promised. "The classes can be kind of different, but it's not what you'd call difficult, no."

Of course, Sookie could make those statements and have them be true for her but not him. He'd considered just getting to class difficult.

"Different how?" he wondered. He'd had one class already that hadn't been bad in any sense of the word. It'd been overwhelming and full of information but he'd learned.

"The topics aren't what you'd find in a regular school," she tried.

"I had a class on religion today," he shared. "That's not an educational class for a typical school?"

[identity profile] justwantsquiet.livejournal.com 2009-09-01 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Depends on the school," she said, shrugging. "I had one on tactics over summer. That's not normal, really."

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2009-09-01 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Tactics," he repeated, the word unfamiliar and almost sharp sounding. "What...are tactics?"

[identity profile] justwantsquiet.livejournal.com 2009-09-01 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Ummm." Sookie sought out a synonym. "Strategy? Thinking 'bout how to approach things?"

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2009-09-01 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Strategy he did know. He and Asher used to have strategies for some of the games they played. Ways to win, ways to not lose, things like that. He never imagined a whole class would be taught on it though.

"They have whole classes on that?"

[identity profile] justwantsquiet.livejournal.com 2009-09-01 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh huh! Just how to get out of sticky situations and the like," she said, nodding.

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2009-09-01 10:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Sticky situations?" he asked, not making sense of that slang. "How are situations sticky? Do they involve a substance that makes them stick?"

So new. And so so out of his element.

Wow, he was a literal little thing, wasn't he?

"No, no, honey, like...um, trying situations. Difficult ones. Where you're in trouble!"

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2009-09-01 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Trouble." He knew the word. He'd known that word since his time in the Community. His father had used it to tease him sometimes, tell him not to ride his bicycle before he was allowed. He'd never thought to use tactics in those situations. He'd just listened to the rules.

Mostly.

"I've never used strategy when I'm in trouble," he voiced. "It wasn't necessary."
