Third Floor Common Room, Tuesday evening

Andy felt in need of an evening of tv and munchies, surprisingly without an afternoon of smoking preceeding it. So he was sitting on the couch with a large array of candy and chips spread out around him, flipping through channels and looking for something that would hold his interest for more than few minutes.

"I do believe I will," she said with a grin. "Thanks, by the way." Because it was only polite to thank people when you swiped their food.

"I'm K-Mart," she said, tearing open the bag. "Nice to meet you."

"Nickname," K-Mart explained. "Because really, when your name's Dahlia? Not fun."

"Which, considering I'm from Georgia? Kinda appropriate." She wrinkled her nose. "Dahlia Jean Mancini. I'm on the records with that name, but nobody ever pushes it when I tell 'em to call me K-Mart. Usually they just wanna know why."

"The place I'm from, it's a post-apocalyptic zombie wasteland, pretty much," K-Mart explained. "I wound up hiding in a K-Mart back home and taking refuge. It's where I got rescued from after a couple months. By then I'd decided that Dahlia was as good as dead, life as I knew it was over, so I needed a new name. And being all of nine at the time, I decided K-Mart was as good a nickname as any."

"Yep." K-Mart nodded. "Serious as a heart-attack. And about as much fun, too."

"It does, it really does." K-Mart shook her head. "But I'm here now and damn am I glad to be here. Far fewer zombies. ... well, the invasion a couple months ago not withstanding. And there's the zombies at Caritas. But still, overall, far fewer zombies."

"Most schools don't have any zombies at all, so this is a bit of a special case. And then there's the gremlins. Oh, God, those things are evil."
