Sixth Floor Kitchen [evening]

Sookie hadn't really ventured up to the sixth floor to use the big kitchen, but she figured that if she was going to teach someone to cook, this'd be the place to do it.

She had her recipe. To the best of her knowledge, she had her ingredients. And unless something went terribly, terribly wrong, she and Bobby would end up with peanut butter cookies to eat after!

So, probably not so much on having the cookies later. Oh, Sookie. In the meantime, she set to work preheating the oven and putting her hair up while she waited for him.

[Sookie's here for Bobby, natch, but all are welcome to witness the destruction sample cookies and such.]

Bobby was... slightly less optimistic than Sookie about the chances of things not going terribly wrong. But! He wasn't going to let that stand in the way, thank you.

"I hope you didn't start without me," he said as he wandered in to the kitchen. "As that'd sort of defeat the point and all."

For a moment he was actually tempted to say yes. "Nah, that's cool. I'll survive." Even if pressing buttons was fun. Maybe next time!

"...Sugar, right?" Bobby guessed, looking over the list. And not, you know, checking the actual first step of the instructions.
longislandiceme: (smile looking down)

"Oh," Bobby gave Sookie a sheepish little grin. "Cream the butter!" he announced victoriously. "Which is done... how exactly?"
longislandiceme: (concerned)

"Right, okay, lowest," Bobby said with a confident nod, reaching over to grab the mixer and do just that and... flicked the little dial thingie way too fast so that it was now whirring away at top speed.

"Uh, how do I make this stop?" he shouted over the sound of the mixer.

"Somehow I kind of doubt it'll taste as good," he said with a sigh. But it did indeed have a frosting-like consistency to it! Yay?
longislandiceme: (doesn't get it)

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2009-09-11 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure," Bobby said, grabbing the half-cup measure and the bag of sugar and caaarefully pouring the sugar into the cup. Except he sort of tipped the bag a bit too quickly and oops, there went about a quarter cup or so of extra sugar.

"Done!" he said brightly, not thinking too much of it. Too much sugar wouldn't hurt, would it?
longislandiceme: (worried)

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2009-09-11 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Um. A liiiiittle bit more than I was supposed to?" he admitted. "It came out way too fast!"
longislandiceme: (aw shucks)

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2009-09-11 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Sorry," Bobby mumbled. He had a sinking feeling he was gonna be saying that a lot. "So! What next?" he peered over at the instructions. More creaming!

This time, at least, he managed to get the mixer on the right setting the first time.
longislandiceme: (uh oh)

...Well, at least she averted any egg-related disasters?

But not the peanut-butter ones. Namely, the kind of disasters that involve trying to scrape out peanut butter with a knife and-

"Okay. I had no idea peanut butter was so aerodynamic," he said, blinking at the spot on the wall across the room where a glob of peanut butter was now sticking.
longislandiceme: (confused)

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2009-09-11 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't know and I'm not entirely sure I want to," Bobby admitted. Thankfully (er, from a certain point of view, anyway) there was still enough peanut butter left that wasn't stuck to the wall.

And if she'd been Hank or Scott, the repetition of 'carefully' would've earned her an annoyed eyeroll. She wasn't, though, so he just sucked it up and did as instructed.

"There. No more airborne peanut butter," he declared once that was done.
longislandiceme: (meep?)

Really, Sookie might not be psychic in the predicting-the-future sense of the word but she should've seen this coming.

You know, the whole, Bobby standing there coated in a light dusting of flour, holding a cup of same, thing.

At least it was actually nicely levelled off?

longislandiceme: (wtf?)

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2009-09-11 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
"It slipped!" he facepalmed, sending a little puff of flour out into the air as he did so.

Really, it was a very very good thing she'd done the egg part.
longislandiceme: (doesn't get it)

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2009-09-11 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay," Bobby said, trying not to let his disappoinment show. Really, he thought he'd been doing well, all things considered. It's not like anything had exploded, you know.
longislandiceme: (using my powers [iced])

[personal profile] longislandiceme 2009-09-11 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Now that is totally within my skill set," he grinned, holding one hand over the bowl and gradually bringing the temperature down.

Though most of his effort was concentrated on the bowl of dough, his control wasn't quite that precise when it came to controlling temperature without creating ice. There was a slight, but still noticeable, drop in temperature throughout the rest of the kitchen.

"Yeah, though most people have to let the fridge do this part," he smirked and looked back at Sookie. "You cold?" he asked, concerned.
longislandiceme: (worried)

"It's hard to keep it to a really small area if I'm just cooling the air," he said apologetically. "Sorry bout that," he drew his hand back from the bowl and the temperature returned to normal after a few moments.
