3rd Floor Common Room [Monday Evening]

After dinner at Luke's, Bobby was still feeling sort of restless. So he went to his room, grabbed a stack of Rebel Justice Unleashed comics and headed back to the common room.

Sprawling lazily on one of the couches, he got to work catching up on the last few issues. Of course, he wouldn't object to company- that was kind of why he was out here instead of reading in his room.

Valentine didn't have much to do tonight, either, except maybe work on Demosthenes' piece for the paper, so she decided it was common room time, too. That way, she could at least be pretending to socialize, and maybe even actually do it. Laptop under her arm, she drifted in, giving Bobby on the couch a little wave as she made it toward a chair to flop in.

"Evening."

"Hey," Bobby looked up with a smile as Valentine entered the common room. "Homework?" he raised an eyebrow at the laptop.

"Nope," Valentine admitted easily, curling up with the computer in her lap, flipping it open and turning it on. "Just technological dependency."

She then returned the question with a nod toward Bobby's comics. "Literature?"

"Totally," Bobby said with a nod. "...Yeah, okay, maybe not so much? But there's a plot. Usually. Sometimes. In between all the 'let's blow stuff up cause it looks cool and we don't have to worry about a special effects budget 'cause it's a comic book'."

Valentine grinned a little. "A true devotee of literature could probably take anything and B.S. their way into a logical criticism that talks about how deep and important for our time it is. I'm sure all that blowing stuff up is just a metaphor for society or something."

"That is... a lot more thought than I usually put into comic books," Bobby admitted sheepishly. "But I've seen online forums. I think you're right."

Now Valentine had to snort. "Oh, it's even worse on the Nets. They'll let anyone post things there."

"What're you reading?" Sookie asked, flinging herself onto a couch in a manner that clearly indicated her own boredom.

It was also a mark of said boredom that she'd gone down two floors in search of entertainment.

"Rebel Justice Unleashed," Bobby said, holding up the comic so she could see. "Not exactly, you know, deep or meaningful literature, but it's fun."

"'Cause you know me, I only read deep and meaningful things," Sookie said very seriously.

"And then write papers on them. For fun."

"Well of course," Bobby agreed with a nod. "You're just not getting the maximum fun-potential out of literary papers if you don't reread them."

So Gabrielle lived on the second floor. As if a simple thing like that would stop a girl who habitually roamed all over the country back home?

"Bobby!" she greeted him, clearly in one of her prime perky moods. "I haven't seen you in a while."

This, obviously, was a tragedy. Of Greek proportions. And she knew Greek proportions.

"Then clearly we were due to run in to each other," Bobby said with a smile. "It's good to see you, though."

D'awwwwwwwwwwwwww. Cue the grin that, even though Gabrielle wouldn't know what a watt was, was about 10,000 of them bright.

"It's very good to see you too," she said, perching on the arm of the sofa. "How have you been?"

"Oh, you know, hanging out, watching TV... making people's rooms disappear."

"Making . . ." Bear with Gabrielle a moment, while she boggled. "What?"

"Uh huh!" Bobby nodded. "...Not with like, magic or anything. Just some drywall, tape, and paint."

Jennifer popped into the common room, all Hulked Out, wearing a cowboy hat and (rather stretched) red shirt, and wielding a squirt gun.

"Evenin' all," she said in a bad Australian accent. "Don't mind me."

"Hey, Jen," Bobby waved. The bad accent only got a moment's pause. He had, after all, run through a number of them himself upthread a little bit earlier.

"Seen any BLUs up here?" she said, sticking with the accent.

"Um, I've got the latest issue of RJU?" Bobby tried, holding up the comic book in question. "But I have no idea what a BLU is."

"The enemy!" Jen said. "The ones we're all trying to take out!"

"Is this one of those invasion things I've heard about?" Bobby frowned. Except then wouldn't more people be... running around and doing stuff?
