Hurley had a DVD of Space Battles IV (You know, the first one), and a big bowl of popcorn.

He was awaiting Rachel so he could teach her the ways of the best movies of all time. As you do.

Raven walked into the common room a few minutes later. "Hello, Hurley," she said. "Is there anything I should get before we begin to watch?"

"Well, I got enough popcorn to share," Hurley said. "So, uhhh, something to drink, maybe?"

"Give me a moment," Raven said, smiling. She drew her arms up and disappeared from the room in a puff of black smoke, returning the same way a few minutes later with a bag containing pop soda and water.

"...whoa," Hurley said.

"...that's handy."

"That is how I brought us to the top of the tower in our class some weeks back," Raven reminded him. "I was keeping my abilities more of a secret then, but I have learned I do not have to."

"Oh, yeah," Hurley said. "You had me shut my eyes though, remember?"

Raven nodded. "I remember," she said, setting the drinks down. She moved to settle on the couch, leaning against one arm with her legs curled under her.

"So, like... why did you think you had to hide them?" Hurley asked.

"I thought it was best if I pretended to be a normal girl," Raven said. "I did not realize how many of the students here possess extraordinary abilities as well."

Hurley chuckled. "Yeah, there's a lot. Being normal is probably the minority."

"I do not think anyone is truly normal here," Raven said. "It was pleasant to find out I did not have to hide my true self."

Hurley paused for a second, remembering some things about that different universe. He shook it off, and smiled. "Glad you don't have to pretend and stuff, now."

Raven tilted her head curiously. "I have not told you my true name, have I? It is Raven, but I will answer to that and to Rachel."

"Dude, you lied about your name?" Hurley said, laughing. "Man, I'll never be able to trust you again." He was joking, of course. He stood up to put in the movie.

She felt a twinge of guilt despite Hurley's laughter. "I am sorry," she said. "It was part of my attempt to be a normal girl. My mother's last name was Roth before she took a new name in Azarath, and Rachel was close enough to Raven that I thought I would learn to answer to it easily."

"Hey, it's okay," Hurley said. "Not like I have people calling me by my real name, you know?"

He stuck the DVD in the player and sat back down.

"Hurley is not your true name?" Raven asked. She took a handful of popcorn and watched the opening scroll on the screen.

"Nope, it's just a nickname I've had for forever," Hurley said. "My name's actually Hugo."

"Hugo is a nice name," Raven said. "Why do you not use it?"

A large spaceship was chasing another on the screen now. Raven flinched instinctively as it fired upon the smaller, but relaxed and told herself it was only a simulation; no one was truly being harmed.

"You are, like, the first person to ever say that," Hurley said, happily munching his popcorn. He loved this movie.

"It seems neither of us told the other what our true names were until today," Raven said, teasing just a little. "Does that mean we are even?"

"Sounds fair to me," Hurley said. "So which do you prefer? Rachel or Raven?"

"Raven is what I prefer, though I have grown used to Rachel as well," she said. "And Hurley is what you prefer, correct?"

"Yeah," Hurley said. "So now we know what to call each other." He gave Raven a thumbs up.

Raven imitated his thumbs up gesture. "Yes, we do," she said. "Now, please explain to me what is happening in the movie? The bigger ship is piloted by the villains?"
