Magic Reserve - The Preserve, Wednesday Afternoon
Nobody was at the usual meeting place. Instead, the Magic Reservists would find arrows drawn in the air with blue magical energy. (Look, Tony only had so many cool tricks. He had to make do with what he was given. Besides, it was easier than sticking signs to grass.) The arrows pointed to a space about a hundred feet away, where the ground rose up to make a small hill. The leaders of the Magic Reserve stood at the top of the hill. Refreshments were set up a few feet away from the base of the hill.
"Hey, everyone," Tony said. "Before we get started, I'd like everyone to fill out a brief survey. Let us know where you feel your strengths are and what you think are your weak spots. General stuff, like distance attacks, focused attacks, shielding, scrying, that sort of thing. Next week we'll pair you up with someone who will balance you out and practice working together."
Karla was not in a mood to be particularly helpful today. In fact, most of her thoughts were trending in the complete opposite direction. This probably stemmed from the fact that Karla was currently a male. Sure, it had happened to all the females on the island, but from her expression, she seemed to be taking it personally.
The additional testosterone probably wasn't helping any.
Thus, when it was her turn to speak, she kept it short, brief, and to the point. "Anyone feels the need to laugh or make a comment and I will cheerfully set you on fire."
She didn't look like she was kidding.
...Yes, she was still rather terrifying as a boy.
Merlin eyed her warily before nodding along with that. "So, today we'll be playing a spot of King Of The Hill. And... um... let's all try not to bring up the changes to the girls, yes?"
Rather than respond, Karla just stormed off to the edges of the crowd. It was probably a safe bet that she didn't have anything else to add.
"...Tony?" Merlin prompted, sounding a bit desperate.
"Um, yeah," Tony said. He pointed randomly in the opposite direction of Karla. "You're the King to start. Everyone else's job is to knock you off the top of the hill. Think of ways to push, pull and move, not attack and injure, okay?" They had a five minute break to clear the playing field and then Tony gave the signal to start.
[OCD up!]

The sad part came in when the thought occurred to her that hey, she might have an even better shot with the straight girls now.
Except ew. Not like that. Anyway, it looked like an epidemic.
So don't mind that disgruntled-looking guy leaning against the tree over there, okay? Kennedy had to have something to do, even if the scenery was a lot less scenic than usual.
Re: Arrive/Mingle - 9/23
Perhaps the island enjoyed leaving one or two unchanged just to get extra irony?
or else it just has a sadistic sense of humorRe: Arrive/Mingle - 9/23

SURVEY
Name:
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Anything else we should consider:
Re: SURVEY
Strengths: Research, basic spellwork, charms. I work in the Magic Box so I can get pretty much anything in stock there at an employee discount/
Weaknesses: I'm seriously not a hardcore badass Wiccan.
Anything else we should consider: Can we make the island not change people's gender anymore? I'd like that.
Re: SURVEY
Strengths: Healing, empathy, shielding, teleportation
Weaknesses: Offensive actions
Anything else we should consider: I was raised a pacifist, but I am attempting to learn to deal with violence so that I may assist in case of an attack. I cannot use my empathic powers offensively. I am going to be practicing with Jono.
Re: SURVEY
Strengths: Telekinesis, touch-telepathy, physical fighting skills -- can now air-walk a little, remote touch, and dream-walk. Also, not afraid to jump off high things.
Weaknesses: No real magic at all. Woe.
Anything else we should consider: ummmmm, I'm not bad at research, and I don't have ADD, but it's really not my thing?
Re: SURVEY
Strengths: invisibility, intangibility, a form of telekinesis (I can float objects), the ability to make items vanish and appear, Healing, illusions, mind-Healing, prophecy, shielding, energy blasting, creating fire, creating poison. LOOK I HAVE LOTS OF SKILLS, OKAY?
Weaknesses: I have little fighting skill outside of Craft
Anything else we should consider: I hate everything today.
Karla was managing to be grumpy on paper. And still not sharing her true weakness with the boyos. Call her silly, but...
Re: SURVEY
Strengths: I can do anything with fire and have the ability to call upon Fire Elementals when needed. My Fire Magic also allows me to generate a shield. I can also do spells, some simple charms and know a few herbal remedies.
Weaknesses: Since my magic is based in the elements themselves, I am constrained by that balance. I cannot work well with water or water elements, being the opposite force to fire. Also, I am not a very good fighter.
Anything else we should consider: Tea. There needs to be more tea at these meetings.
Re: SURVEY
Strengths: Being creative and innovative with magic, just general awesomeness
Weaknesses: Can't upset the balance too much
Anything else we should consider: Why are there so many boys today?
Re: SURVEY
Strengths: Strength! Flying! Both by myself and ships! My weapon is a yo-yo and I have some really good attacks! I'm getting better with shooting a gun. And I learned how to use a sling over the summer.
Weaknesses: I don't like celery. *doodle of a dead stalk of celery* I can't fly without transforming and I don't have any magic. I don't really have any defense stuff either, I usually just fly out of the way.
Anything else we should consider: I don't kill. I am a heroine of Justice, not a killer. Some people would say that I should put that as a weakness or that I shouldn't be in the reserves because of that. I don't think it's a bad thing not to kill just because. Also, I really want to learn magic, but so far almost everyone says I can't.
And there were some doodles scattered over the page... if you squinted, it was a team of stick figures fighting a giant robot, a panda bear holding a gun, and a helicopter. If you don't squint... you won't miss much.
