Fifth Floor Common Room, Saturday Evening

Jennifer was crashed out on a couch, watching music videos on some channel that, of course, wasn't MTV (like they ever show music videos.

She couldn't help but hum along with the one currently playing.

Though the lyrics boggled her.

"Wait, what do maps have to do with loving someone like she loves him?" she said at the TV.

At least she had one part of the common room experience down: she had a few big bags of Cheetos to share with anyone who came in.

Eleanor wandered in, headed for the stove with a tea kettle in hand. She didn't really need to use a stove, but sometimes doing things the mundane was nice too.

She glanced at the other girl, recognizing her from Karla's party. And other things about said party.

"You're..." she paused, thinking, "Jen aren't you? I think you know my roommate. Ellie."

Jennifer flushed a little at the mention of Ellie. "Yeah. She's my best friend."

"Yes, I had noticed," she said with a smirk. "I'm having some tea. Would you care for some?"

Jennifer still wasn't sure what to make of what had happened, but tea sounded like a great idea.

"Yes, please," she said. "You're... Eleanor, right?"

"Yes," she nodded as she went about preparing two tea cups. "I still think it amusing that someone decided to put two Eleanors together in a room."

"It is amusing," Jennifer said, turning down the volume on the TV a bit. "I don't know much about you other than your name. Are you and Ellie alike in other ways?"

She smirked a little. "Not really. I'm a mage, for one thing. And I'm from nearly a hundred years in the past. But we do seem to have a few friends in common, so that may be saying something."

"A mage?" Jennifer said. "I don't think I've met anyone like that yet. Well, similar, but no one's used that term."

"I guess most people here call themselves a witch or wizard, or something like that. But in essence, it's about the same. Well, not completely the same," she added. "Everyone has their own set of abilities."

"How long have you been here? School, I mean."

"Just since the start of the summer," Jennifer said. "So not all that long. But long enough that it's my new home."

In came a Leda. A Leda looking mightily refreshed and with hair freshly dyed a bright green.

Eleanor raised an eyebrow slightly. "Leda! Your hair. It's ... unique."

"That's the idea, Tia." Leda smiled. "It takes the focus off my ears."

"But what's wrong with them?" she asked, genuinely confused. "I like your ears. They're very pretty."

"I was kidding silly." Leda said. "But thank you. My ears like you too."

"What have you been up to lately? I haven't seen you around as much."

"I've been, um, sick. Like, withdrawal-sick. But I'm think I'm all better now." Or would be with the clinic's meds.

"Oh dear. I hope it wasn't too bad. Is there anything I can do?" she asked with concern.

"I like the hair," Jennifer said. "It's a good color."

"Why thank you." Leda giggled. "I'm practicing for that Irish holiday."

Jennifer laughed. "I guess all I have to do to dress up for St. Patrick's is get really angry that morning."
