Salle, Monday Morning

It was just the ordinary set-up this morning: Arthur, a number of unfortunate practice dummies, a sword, and drills that were precise down to the obsessive. And Merlin, of course, although even Arthur couldn't manage to get his armor dirty every week.

He took a few more swings, focusing mainly on his footwork today.

"Is that really necessary?" Merlin asked dubiously. And,sadly, he was not referring to the OCD.

"So you bludgeon a little wooden... man shaped thing?"

Which begged the question: "...what are you doing then?"

Merlin thought long and hard on that. "Perhaps Zack will come?"

"..." Merlin, respond to that. "Of course."

"I'm sure he will," Merlin assured him, moving over to give him room to join.

Why wouldn't you want to deal with Arthur? Don't answer that. Morgana could give you a better riff on it anyway.

"Morning, Arthur." Dinah headed for her practice sword, humming. Good weekend, hopefully good week ahead, whyever not?

"Yup!" Don't bounce with the sword, Dinah. "I mean, yes. I had a good weekend." And a good week before that. "You?" Foregoing more bounciness, Dinah took a breath, and settled into one of her usual stances, going through her drill.

And then she tried that twirling around thing that Zayne showed her. Ha!

"Something Zayne showed me?" Dinah said, trying not to sound uncertain. "Not that I'd use it. Unless someone was already off-balance and I needed a power-move..." She paused, trying to read Arthur's expression. "Or at all?" she guessed.

"Oh. Yeah, I guess you could get suckered in there." She did it again, as fast as she could, keeping her feet steady, and came back around. "He said you had to be really, really fast with it, since you end up turning your back on your opponent in there. And that Professor Skywalker does it. But, well. He's a master." Practicing it in the salle was still fun, though. Dinah fell back into her drill, high block, low, middle, slash. "Zayne's good, he beat me last week. But it wasn't totally humiliating."

Dinah was so going to try that on the next beginner in Fencing Club she was sure was slower. "Okay!" More footwork, and a quick sideways check to see how Arthur was doing after last night's Fight Club. No apparent injuries though, yay.

Back to concentrating. "I think this might be easier now. The footwork." Since she didn't have 10-lb weights on her legs.

Dinah grinned at him. That was almost a compliment! Woo! "No slacking." Another set of drills, then a speculative look at one of the attack dummies. Not the one he'd already decimated.
