The Roof, Monday Afternoon

Raven found autumn fascinating. Azarath didn't have seasons; therefore the changing colors of the leaves was truly a new experience. So after class she headed up to her favorite spot on the roof and sat cross-legged in the sunlight, eyes closed as she sent her Soul-Self soaring over the Preserve. While her Soul-Self soaked in the reds and golds and oranges of the trees, she thought about Lady Ghanima's class and how she had said to spend the rest of the day contemplating being a better person. Her checklist was slightly different than the rituals they'd discussed that morning. Pay attention in class and please her teachers. Use her gifts to help any who needed healing. Stop occasionally wanting to kill Max, and heal the damage that was done in the other Fandom. Not become her father's servant and help him open gateways to other worlds so they could be conquered or laid waste.

Yeah, that last one was a big one.

That stung a little more than a little. "Once I could walk to such places. That one, I've never visited, or if I have, not by that name."

"It cannot be found, except by those who of Azarath," Raven said. "It was probably not worth your notice even if not."

The flattery, if such it was, pleased Illyria, who was much more used to telling people in this century that they were beneath her notice - but it also amused her. "I haven't the ability to conquer your home even if I cared to," she told the girl.

It was actually more of a "nothing to see here, move along" than flattery, because to be honest, a determined monkey with a slingshot could probably conquer Azarath. "I cannot say that it does not please me somewhat to hear you say that," she admitted. "Azarath is a peaceful place, and to think of war being brought to it is distressing."

Her Soul-Self returned at that moment, settling over her shoulders and then disappearing into her body.

That prompted action from Illyria.

Her eyebrow raised a whole millimeter!

"You are...unbound... to that body?" It wasn't an effect she had sensed in exactly that presentation before.

"I am able to send my Soul-Self away from me," Raven said. "It still must return, and we are connected."

"Part of your essence leaves, yet part remains within your body?"

[trigons_child]

"Yes," Raven said, nodding. She found no reason to skirt the truth; she had openly shared information about her Soul-Self with others. "I am able to experience what both see and feel."

"Convenient," Illyria said after a moment of pondering it. "Does dividing your consciousness not cause confusion?"

[trigons_child]

"At times," Raven said. "Most of the time I will close my eyes in my physical body to focus on what my Soul-Self sees."

Illyria had no attack in mind when she filed away the thought that such actions would likely leave the girl's physical self vulnerable if the other was distant. She was just... Illyria. "Useful for scouting, then," was what she said.
