Raven found autumn fascinating. Azarath didn't have seasons; therefore the changing colors of the leaves was truly a new experience. So after class she headed up to her favorite spot on the roof and sat cross-legged in the sunlight, eyes closed as she sent her Soul-Self soaring over the Preserve. While her Soul-Self soaked in the reds and golds and oranges of the trees, she thought about Lady Ghanima's class and how she had said to spend the rest of the day contemplating being a better person. Her checklist was slightly different than the rituals they'd discussed that morning. Pay attention in class and please her teachers. Use her gifts to help any who needed healing. Stop occasionally wanting to kill Max, and heal the damage that was done in the other Fandom. Not become her father's servant and help him open gateways to other worlds so they could be conquered or laid waste.

Yeah, that last one was a big one.

"Down where?" Hayley said, before she spotted Robin.

"...golly, you gotta be kidding me."

He'd had worse reactions. "Hi, I'm Robin."

"You're a frog," Hayley said. "Wow."

"I sure am." Robin agreed happily. "I might be the strangest student here, judging by some people's reactions."

"Well, you're a frog," Hayley said. "And you talk. That's pretty strange."

She said it with a smile, though.

"It's still a little strange to people back home too. But less now than it used to be."

"You're like something out of a fairy tale," Hayley said, bending down onto her knees. "I'm Hayley."

"Pleased to meet you Hayley. Some people back home think that the old Fairy Tales about talking animals were about animals like me."

"Golly," Hayley said. "That would make sense, wouldn't it?"

"Do you like fairy tales?"

"Who doesn't?" Hayley said. "They're great. Princesses and unicorns and all that."

"They really are." Robin agreed. "What's your favorite?"

"Oh, well, I never had to pick one, before," Hayley said. "Cinderella, I think."

"That's a good one." Robin nodded. "I kinda like Beauty and the Beast too."

"I dunno if I like that one," Hayley said. "That Beast guy is kinda abusive."

Not in the version Robin heard. "Not in every version." he said. "I just heard he was a grouch." Not a Muppet grouch though. Those were different.

"Well, guess it depends on the version you read," Hayley said.

"I have heard that lots of the really old versions are fairly dark."

"Well, I do come from the past," Hayley said.

"Oh me too! How far back?"

"1962," Hayley said. "When are you from?"

"1987. You win."

Hayley just laughed. "I didn't realize it was a competition!"

"Well not officially. What's the strangest thing about the future?"

"The people even from further in the future," Hayley said.
