"Today we will offer you the opportunity of sparring against each other," Leto said when everyone had gathered. "Zack and I will be here to assist you, or spar if you like. The combination of improving your skills and learning the strengths and weaknesses of your friends makes this extremely useful." He smiled. "And fun."

"So," Zack said, practically chirping yet again as he stepped forward to speak, "what we need you guys to do is to pair off, find a spot here on the lawn where you won't get in anyone else's way, and spar. Please, be careful to take it slowly at first. Understand that there are people who have far, far more experience than others in this field. It can't hurt to compare notes first, to try to judge if you're going to be wildly unbalanced or not."

"Exactly," Leto replied. "This is practise and we shouldn't have to take anyone to the clinic. If you have questions or concerns, talk to us."

"Same as if anyone does end up hurt." Zack nodded. "I have potions and healing Materia on hand just in case. Okay guys, have at it!"

And there she went, making him blush more.

This was not difficult to do!

"Thanks? I guess! Uh." He swayed back and forth on his heels for a moment, and then he grinned. "Do you ever blush? Now I want to find out how cute you are when you do it."

She gave him a little smirk. "What fun would it be if I told you to the answer to that?" she replied. "You're just going to have to try your best and see what happens."

"I guess that's fair. I mean, you're pretty darn cute now, so if you were blushing? The world might end or something. For the best that I have to earn something like that!"

Yes. He was shamelessly flirting.

It was the Zack Fair way.

Layla's smile grew a little wider at that and her cheeks started to turn a very faint shade of pink.

"Flatterer," she said giving him a light punch to the shoulder. "Clearly I need to get you more stuffed plushies."

Zack laughed and straightened up a little.

"Apparently so!" A beat. "Oh, and you totally are cute when you blush, too!"

Her face got a little pinker at that. "Oh stop it!" she said. "Or I'll make your face so red people will think you're a stop light."

"And then we'll be a matching pair?"

It would be awesome!

"Fine," she said with a smirk.

And with that she took a step closer to him attempting to move the stuff chocobo out of the way.

"You're sure you want that?"

"Um..." Oh, hey, there went the chocobo, being held at Zack's side now with a light WARK of protest to being excluded from the excitement. It was totally a chocobo thing.

"Sure!"

Matching sets were awesome!

"All righty then."

She pressed up against him slightly as she got up on her toes and... proceeded to whisper some very dirty things in Zack's ear in a Slow. Seductive. Voice.

Or at least the best she could without giggling.

By the time she was finished, it might be noted that Zack's eyes were about as large as dinner plates, and yes, he was a bright shade of pink.

Whoa.

"Yeah, that would be..." Zack groped about for the right thing to say. "Really thorough exercise."

Perhaps that wasn't quite the right phrase.

Layla smiled and threw her fists up in the air.

"And I do believe that makes me the winner of the blushing contest!"

Zack was going to stare. Stare and blush. And then blush and stare. In that order.

And then he was going to grin a little and attack one of her armpits with the plushie chocobo while her arms were still in the air like that.

The chocobo goes, "WARK WARK WARK!"

Damn him going for the ticklish spots.

This of course cued hysterical laughter and much flailing the arms and a breathless "Stopit!Stopit!Stopit!Stopit!Stopit!"

Zack did relent after a while, of course, just because he was laughing so hard himself that he'd probably hurt himself if he didn't let up.

And so he reached the chocobo out one more time, in order to bop Layla on the nose with its beak.

"Tie?"

"Fine," Layla said with a squint and a wave of her finger. "Just remember... the battle has only begun."

"I'll totally keep on the lookout for the next big clash, then," Zack chuckled. He wasn't going to be able to wipe that grin from his face for quite some time, no.
