Third Floor Common Room - Monday Afternoon

Cordelia was in a great mood today. Nothing traumatizing had happened over the weekend, she's managed to avoid all but Buffy despite saying she'd wanted to run into the other Xander, and it was just a good day. A good start to the week even. And she decided to start it off by baking, since that was the only sort of cooking that Cordelia Chase did, and sharing with anyone who wanted some.

There were two platters of brownies, one with nuts and one without, a towering platter of rice crispy treats and she was working on frosting several dozen cupcakes.

"I smell something baking!" said Harper, following her nose to the common room. After a weekend of dressing down (thanks to one of Diana's "suggestions" at the dance) Harper was back to her normal, colorful self. Today, she was wearing a blouse with a red chili pepper print and enameled buttons resembling green jalapenos. At least her green skirt was a solid color.

"Yes, you do..." That last word trailed off as Cordelia took in Harper's outfit. She wondered if the poor girl was the victim of a clothing robbery or something. Maybe there was a clothes monster after all.

She finally pasted a grin on her face and waved a hand at the trays. "Help yourself."

"Thanks!" said Harper, grabbing a brownie for herself. "Did you have a good weekend? I had a blast at the dance and at the carnival."

Cordelia nodded and went back to decorating one of the cupcakes with little candy bats. "Oh, I had a lot of fun. Ran into someone I kinda know, but it was interesting."

"Did you know any of the students who've already graduated?" asked Harper. "I mostly hung out with my friends at the dance, and the my big sibling and I had a long talk about boys and stuff at the carnival. Which is weird, actually, because he is a boy."

"Well, sort of. She's a girl I know back home, but she's not the one from my world. If that makes any sense." Cordelia was beginning to think that there should be charts available on the school server or something for people to reference.

"That's weird, but it does sort of make sense," said Harper. "I wonder what it would be like to meet alternate versions of the people I know at home. Maybe the alternate Justin Russo would be my boyfriend."

"Maybe. It can be very weird though too. Especially if they're ahead of you, time wise." Cordelia was speaking from experience here.

"Oooh, maybe future Justin and I are already married. That would be awesome!" said Harper.

Somewhere in the world, Justin Russo was probably face-palming.

"...dude, how much did you bake?" Hurley said, staring from the doorway in awe.

"Hi Hurley," Cordelia said brightly. She waved him over and set out a plate for him. "I started a few hours ago and I'm almost done with the cupcakes."

They were getting a bit of festive decorating for Halloween.

If it was possible, Cordelia looked a bit happier. "Why thank you! I mean, I can't cook, but baking I can do."

"Close enough," Hurley said, smiling. "You have a good weekend?"

"Mostly. I ran into someone from back home who isn't the one from my world, and otherwise had fun at the carnival and dance. You?"

"Looooong story," Hurley said. "Things are cool now, though."

"Everything's better with cupcakes," Hurley said. He took a bite.

"...oh, awesome."

"Hi Hurley!" Robin waved happily. "How've you been?"

"Hey little dude," Hurley said. "I've been okay and stuff. You?"

"The same. I missed most of this weekend though. I wound up at a party in the swamp and got involved in filming a short film."

"Dude, cool," Hurley said. "Little movie star. Awesome."

Well it was a small role, but still, fun. "Someday maybe." Robin said hopefully. "I've been stuck with the acting bug since I was four."

"I guess I got my vaccinations for that bug," Hurley joked.

"You've never been tempted?" Robin was now considering encouraging Hurley to audition for the next play.

Robin followed his nose wait, frogs don't have noses to the source of the delicious smells.

"Hi! Is there a special occasion?"

Cordelia did a double take but smiled anyway. "Nope. Just a bit of pre-holiday and 'yay we survived Homecoming' cheer."

"That works. I'm Robin by the way, it's very nice to meet you. Do you need any help?"

"I'm Cordelia, and nope. I've got it handled. You're welcome to eat whatever you want though."

She'd just make more if they ran out.

"Yes. I was trying to leave the weird, and ended up in more weird. But it's a better weird!" At least gremlin bites didn't kill you.
