Samhain Celebration - Main Campfire of the Cabins, Sunday, Dusk

Having ~~handwavilyomg~~ put up some very, very poorly spelled signs with Tara for people to know about this, Merlin was more than happy to get things started.

If only because there had been some rather insistent candy yesterday and he'd tried some out of pity and now believed Halloween may be evil. So, there was that.

But he had everything all set up and hopefully there wouldn't be an attack of some also horrible sweet from his time. But this was Fandom, so that was an actual concern. Damn Fandom.

"Well, no one's taken their kit off yet, but there aren't any soldiers hauling me home," he said, "So far, it's not looking too bad."

He still had his head tilted curiously at Merlin, though.

"I'm sure with enough mead, someone will." A beat. "Though it is rather cold..."

"A bit," he agreed. "Best haul you in early, then." Merlin's tolerance? Legendary.

"I'm not that bad." Oh yes he was.

Arthur shot him a dry look. "I'd rather have you up on the third floor when you can still walk than carry you again, whcih, by the way, is very much not my job."

Which didn't mean he wasn't going to do it whenever necessary, but still.

His smirk quirked into a smile instead. "So sit down and tell me what nonsense you came up with in Ealdor during the feast."

"Me?" Merlin scoffed. "Will and I usually ended up trying to nip some of the wine."

Arthur sniggered, making himself comfortable. "I can only imagine how badly that went."

"Only the one time he talked me into using magic to summon it to us." Merlin sighed. "That poor tree was never the same."

Many months of having a chance to get acquainted with the concept of magic plus Arthur being Arthur plus the way he phrased that meant that yes, Arthur was cracking up. "I am not surprised," he announced. "And as per usual, doubtful of your sanity as a wizard."

"Oi! I do just fine!"

Sometimes. Now. Shhhhh.

"I can really tell," Arthur retorted, reaching to give him a manly shove against the shoulder.

"Shouldn't you be drinking?" Merlin countered, taking another sip of his beer. "Or telling all the stories of your hunts?"

Arthur sipped his own mead as well. "I would, if I thought you had any appreciation for the fine art of hunting," he retorted, quite comfortable with his arm now brushing against Merlin's where he sat, thanks.

Not that Merlin's lack of appreciation had ever kept him from telling them.

"Oh, no, my lord. I love to hear about the time you took down a bear that was nearly two men high. And had fangs like daggers," Merlin said oh so seriously.

Hey, in their world, that was actually possible.

"Merlin, you have no idea what kind of creature roams those woods."

Merlin just shot him a look. Because, bitch please.

"None," Arthur said, firmly. Even in the face of that look.
