Samhain Celebration - Main Campfire of the Cabins, Sunday, Dusk

Having ~~handwavilyomg~~ put up some very, very poorly spelled signs with Tara for people to know about this, Merlin was more than happy to get things started.

If only because there had been some rather insistent candy yesterday and he'd tried some out of pity and now believed Halloween may be evil. So, there was that.

But he had everything all set up and hopefully there wouldn't be an attack of some also horrible sweet from his time. But this was Fandom, so that was an actual concern. Damn Fandom.

Now she was confused, both by the intimate touch and the emotions she was sensing, but she knew some cultures were more touchy-feely than others. "I remember Lady Ghanima mentioning something about a paradox when we visited Arrakis," she said. "You are in danger if you return home?"

He noted the confusion but didn't pull away. Leto didn't doubt his own feelings, and Raven seemed surprised rather than reluctant. "Ghanima is my twin sister," he explained. "She is from later in our timeline, and if I were to take anyone back with me to meet her in my time, that Ghani would know things she couldn't, shouldn't, know. So I am not in danger - time is." He stood close enough now to let his fingers nudge against hers.

While the attention was enjoyable and flattering, she didn't know Leto that well, plus things have been going so well with Jono last night. She moved her hand back, slowly, so not to appear rude. "I am glad you are not in danger," she said. "It would be terrible not to be able to return home." Not that she didn't know what that felt like.

"So am I." She had pulled away her hand; he shouldn't push her. "I've been meaning to talk to you for sometime." Since... yesterday? He gestured a suggestion for the two of them to sit down by the fire.

Raven settled beside the fire, carefully adjusting her skirt so that it was not too close to the flames. "About what?" she asked. She certainly didn't mind getting to know Leto better; his sister was one of her favorite teachers, after all.

"I just have the feeling that we have things in common," he said after sitting down next to her; close enough so that they almost touched. "So... I wanted to find out more about you."

"We are both from worlds very different from Fandom," Raven said in agreement. "But I fear there is not much interesting about Azarath. It is a very quiet and peaceful place, and as I said most time is spent in studies or meditation. Violence is forbidden, and all strong emotions are suppressed by those who live there."

She was pleased to discuss her home -- especially with a cute boy -- but she hoped she was not boring.

"It might not be very interesting to you," he said, "But that doesn't mean I wouldn't." He nudged her arm. "Why are emotions supposed to be repressed?"

Raven blushed, happy with Leto's interest. "Those of Azarath purged themselves all negative emotion long ago," she explained. "They cast away all hate and anger and sorrow and fear. But since good feelings can so easily turn bad, those began to fade as well, until Azarath became a world of no emotion. Coming here from there was so very strange for me, but I have come to learn about emotion and to experience them as well."

Oh. Interesting.

"And what kind of emotions have you experienced here?" he asked. "And which ones do you wish to experience?"

"I have tasted far too much of fear and pain," Raven said. "Especially in that Other Fandom. But I have found friendship and affection much more enjoyable."

"They certainly are!" Oh, and Leto knew some kinds of expression of affection that he would certainly like to demonstrate to her, although perhaps not in public.

"So, if I were to offer both friendship and affection, you wouldn't mind?" There was a hint in his voice that he was talking about more than Raven had perhaps.

Raven blinked. She'd confused Chuck's attraction to her, but she did not want to do the same here. "I would welcome the chance to get to know you better," she said carefully. She didn't want to assume he meant more than a friend's affection and embarrass herself, even if the feelings she was reading from him seemed to suggest that. It wouldn't make sense, would it?

Oh, it made perfect sense to Leto. Slowly he reached for her hand. "So, can I see you again soon? Tomorrow?"

"Of-of course," Raven said, flattered by the attention. It was definitely pleasing and she really liked it, but she wasn't sure if this was the point where she should blurt out that she thought she had a boyfriend now and she really liked him and Leto was very nice and all but.

Oh, he wasn't jealous. She could have another boyfriend too if she wanted. "You can stop by my room any time," he said.

"I am not certain where that is," Raven admitted. "I am on the fifth floor; where is your room?"

"I'm in room 303," he replied, squeezing her hand.

Now would be the time for blurting. "I have a boyfriend," Raven said. OK, so she and Jono hadn't actually defined their relationship in exactly those words, but she was pretty sure that's what it was going to be.

[Now would also be the time to kick LJ so I get my comments. Grrr.]

"And is that an exclusive relationship?" Leto asked, still looking hopeful.

[Bad LJ!]

"We have not discussed that," Raven said. "I will try to remember to ask him." Maybe.

"I can still be your friend," Leto offered. Not that he would be quite content with that, but it was a start.

"Of course," Raven said brightly. "I would be very pleased to be your friend."

He smiled, then took her hand again to kiss it lightly.
