Having handwavilyomg put up some very, very poorly spelled signs with Tara for people to know about this, Merlin was more than happy to get things started.

If only because there had been some rather insistent candy yesterday and he'd tried some out of pity and now believed Halloween may be evil. So, there was that.

But he had everything all set up and hopefully there wouldn't be an attack of some also horrible sweet from his time. But this was Fandom, so that was an actual concern. Damn Fandom.

"I'm Canadian." Diana pointed out. "Our Thanksgiving already passed. But yeah, it is. Last time, the dessert staged an intervention."

Kennedy smirked and leaned against a nearby tree. "An intervention against what? Unhealthy dependency on cranberries?"

"My sister and I are Keepers." Diana sort of explained. "It makes life very interesting when we're both in the same room and it's the holidays. Wanna go back to discussing closets?"

This was going to make Kennedy reconsider the relative fun level of being in the same wing of the house as her stepsister come Christmas break, wasn't it?

"It's... easier," she allowed with a sheepish grimace. "So how long have you known, anyway?"

Yeah, because Kennedy was going to talk about the literal closets. That was as confusing as the turkeys.

Diana shrugged. " A year or so? I had a thing and well, it didn't go well, and yeah, it's a thing." Very eloquent there. Samuel snorted.

Samuel stuck his tongue out at Kennedy. Sometimes, he was still a teenage boy. Don't ask. "Yeah. What about you?"

"Eleven years?" Showoff. "What can I say? Even kindergarten-me couldn't resist the hotness that was Vivien Leigh."

Diana snorted. "Okay, yeah, Vivien Leigh is irresistible." Samuel tried to look innocent. "What?" Right. Innocent.

Or maybe she'd been hanging around Pounce too much?

"So more than met him," Kennedy replied. "Beka was my roommate over the break trip. Pounce kind of took over my bed."

"Oh, holy crap." Kennedy had gotten used to Pounce as a singularity. This was not supposed to be normal. "Is every talking cat in the world on this island?"
