Samhain Celebration - Main Campfire of the Cabins, Sunday, Dusk

Having ~~handwavilyomg~~ put up some very, very poorly spelled signs with Tara for people to know about this, Merlin was more than happy to get things started.

If only because there had been some rather insistent candy yesterday and he'd tried some out of pity and now believed Halloween may be evil. So, there was that.

But he had everything all set up and hopefully there wouldn't be an attack of some also horrible sweet from his time. But this was Fandom, so that was an actual concern. Damn Fandom.

"Yes," she agreed with a nod. "This is more what I'm used to."

"From what I've heard it's closer to how they celebrate it in Faery too."

"From what my friend Sarah told me, All Hallow's Eve was when the spirits of the departed could return to Earth as the borders that separate the spiritual from the physical world are much thinner. I don't precisely understand yet why that is, but she told me that it was every Witch's duty to ensure that those spirits found their way back home."

Eleanor shrugged. "She didn't go into a whole lot more detail about it, I think she felt that the exact hows of her duties in that regard were supposed to be kept among witches."

"Yeah that's how it is where I'm from too. I'm not sure why the border thins at this time of year either. Maybe it has something to do with the weather."

Eleanor considered that. "Well, I wouldn't say the weather per se, but probably the changing of the seasons has something to do with it."

"That may have been what I meant." She'd had a lot of mead.

She giggled. "I's certain you did," she grinned at Leda.

"Cause, this is the time of year when leaves start to die, and the days get shorter, and the harvest is all done, and the world seems to die for several months."

"Yes, that's generally how it goes and how it was regarded in older days."

"Weird how it's changed. Even leaving aside the commercialism."

"I agree. Speaking of commercialism," she grinned, "how much candy did you get last night?"

"Filled up my bag." she said proudly. "You?"

"I think I got more than I could ever hope to eat in an entire year," she giggled. "Oh, and I also got a play script from that nice gentleman at the theatre."

"Oh that's awesome." Leda laughed. "What play?"

"Cymbeline, one of Shakespeare's lesser known works. I haven't had a chance to start reading it yet though."

"I don't know that one. Shakespeare's pretty popular back home though."

"Maybe we could go through it together, then? All that old English can be hard to decipher by just one person."

"That could be cool. Dunno how much help I'd be, but I'll give it a shot."

"I'm sure you'll do fine. Besides, I would love to have your company."

"Okay then, it's a date."

"I kind of like the sound of that," she giggled.

And it was then that Leda first realized that perhaps Eleanor might like her as more than a friend. There were all sorts of things to be considered, if this was the case. For now, she decided to play it cool.

"When's good for you?"

"How about Friday or Saturday?"

"Saturday works. Should I bring snacks?"

She smiled. "That sounds perfect! You provide snacks and I'll provide tea. Unless you prefer something else to drink?"
