Having handwavilyomg put up some very, very poorly spelled signs with Tara for people to know about this, Merlin was more than happy to get things started.

If only because there had been some rather insistent candy yesterday and he'd tried some out of pity and now believed Halloween may be evil. So, there was that.

But he had everything all set up and hopefully there wouldn't be an attack of some also horrible sweet from his time. But this was Fandom, so that was an actual concern. Damn Fandom.

Arthur pulled a face, then shrugged. "Well, I suppose it's close enough, then. But if I do find any body parts floating around, I'll hold you accountable."

"You have such a way with making food sound appetizing. You should be on one of those cooking shows Merlin likes so much." And didn't actually seem to retain the instructions from, though to be fair the Food Network probably didn't have shows on Why Cookies Should Not Be Grey.

Arthur shrugged. "That's not really my job," he pointed out, sanely, and in a tone of voice that implied that was his answer to most questions like this, be they covering food or underwater pottery. "I'll let the actual cooks handle that kind of thing."

Stew? Still getting frowned at.

"Well, the actual cooks are eating the stew," Francine said, shaking her head and taking a spoonful. "So either it's not poisoned or you'll have dinner entertainment in about thirty seconds."

"I'm not sure which one I'm hoping for more," he said, paused, glanced at Merlin, remembered several incidents with poison, clammed up, and got some stew.

"I'd pretend to choke and fall to the ground, but jokes where you think somebody's dead kind of stopped being funny after - oh wait, they were never funny." Bread would be good. For dunking in stew. Francine availed herself.

Francine paused, bread halfway to her mouth. "Merlin got poisoned?"

"Someone tried to poison me," Arthur said, shooting him a wry look across the distance. "He put his life on the line."

"That's..." Francine weighed a number of answers and went with "...Merlin for you."

Yeah, and ahahaha on Arthur ever spilling on that whole poison-unicorn misadventure. "Mm," he said, thoughtfully, because coming from Arthur that was totally a word.

Good call. The combined effect of Merlin and Francine's "YOU SHOT A UNICORN" lip-wobbles would be something to tremble over, even separated by time.

"Was that the 'I give you leave to go' Mm, or the 'I found a body part' Mm?" Francine asked, grabbing another bowl to fill for Katchoo.

"No, 'I give you leave to go' would sound a bit like this," Arthur said, ladling in more stew, and then getting a spoon to poke at it with. "'I give you leave to go'. I'm merely agreeing." About Merlin's idiocy. And bravery. And so on.

"Oh, the 'I agree that Merlin is awesome' Mm." Francine nodded like Arthur was ever likely to let that word pass his lips without airquotes around it. "Got it."

Arthur rolled his eyes. "Merlin couldn't manage awe if his life depended on it," he said, "But, yes, he drunk the poison, an antidote was found, and we carried on."

Way to skip on the major details there, Arthur.
