Fifth Floor Common Room, Sunday Noonish

Hurley was making himself lunch in the common room. While he debated amongst his options, he eventually decided on making a really big sandwich with lots of meat, lettuce, and cheese. While he built this behemoth of a sandwich, he had on the TV, which was playing an episode of Mythbusters.

Where they were exploding a pair of pants.

He didn't know why, but explosions were cool.

Penelope knew she would have a good deal of explaining to do when she came back to Fandom. She knew that. But first things were first and finding and seeing Hurley was at the top of her list.

She just wished her nerves would be kind to her stomach.

Not finding him in his room, she made her way to the common room, the second place she knew to look, and paused in the doorway when her eyes settled on him. She didn't realize she made a noise when she sucked in air.

"Hurley." Ten thousand nerves seemed to prick her vocal cords at that one single, whispered name.

She nodded. "Yes. It's me. Penelope."

Stupid nerves.

Her grin was instant but a tad unsure. If she knew he was feeling a little guilty, she would tell him that was understandable. After all, she had left, hadn't she? It wasn't fair for her to expect anything. But she was hoping.

She took a few steps inside the room, towards his general direction. "You are not dreaming, I assure you. It's really me and I'm really here." She tried to hold eye contact with him. "To stay."

Hopeful excitement lit her eyes. "Are you sure? I'm not... I don't want to upset anything that might have... if anyone is interested in you or... or you them." Ow. That hurt to say. "If not, then yes, please." A beat. "I've missed you so much, Hurley."

Penelope nearly melted into him. "That's a lot of missing," she said, a smile in her tone. "Nearly as much as I missed you."

She shook her head. "I'm sorry I left the way I did, and in such a hurry. I won't do that again, Hurley." She looked up at him, her arms still holding close. "I promise."

"Oh." Um. "Oh. Okay. Um."

She wasn't jealous, just... wow.

"Did you two, um, you know...?"

Penelope pursed her lips to keep from grinning. Too much at least.

"You must have really loved her for two days to make her a cd."

"I never would think it," she quickly stated, chuckling in amusement. "I am curious about those two magic filled days. What happened to cause it?"

"How on accident?" Because that sounded kind of weird.

[identity profile] bad-nose-job.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hm, that's strange." There wasn't much else she could say about it. "There's no lingering feelings?"

"Oh, nothing so important as being in love for two days," she tried to tease. The humor didn't much meet her eyes as she looked away from him. She didn't want to get into all that had happened while she'd been home. And she definitely wouldn't talk about Max... or Johnny rather.

But she would tell him something, if nothing more than to appease him... and herself so to speak. "Dealing with mother. You know how she is," she said with a bit of an eyeroll. "Home will always be home and mother will never change. I'm here now, Hurley. That's what matters."

"Homecoming. I forgot about that dance. Did you go?"
