Roof; Friday Afternoon

Chuck was bored and tired of hanging around his room so when he finally got out of bed on Friday he decided to get out for a bit. Not to a common room since his post-Thanksgiving hangover wasn't allowing for him to be quite that social at the moment, but he knew he could handle being out on the roof for a bit. It was cold, but nothing Chuck couldn't handle. The scarf did more than make him look fantastic, you know.

"Went to church?" Alex repeated, making a face. "What in the hell for?"

Chuck shrugged. "I go every Thursday. I'm friends with the guy who runs the place."

"So, you're not going because you're some religious fanatic?" he questioned. "I really don't wanna be preached to when I'm smoking or anything."

Chuck had to laugh at that because really. "God, no. I'm not that kind of church person at all. That's just scary."

"So, you go just be supportive to your friend?" Alex asked, not quite following. "I didn't think you did that sort of thing."

Of course, Alex didn't know Chuck all that well but, taking him at surface level, he thought that was a good guess.

"You haven't seen what he looks like. That's reason enough to go." Sure, that's not why Chuck went anymore but he wasn't about to get into that squishy friendship crap with Alex, thank you.

And Alex thanked him for that. He didn't want to talk squishy friendships. "I dunno, it'd have to be a chick for me to go. I really don't go in for guys but to each his own. He ever have anything interesting to say?"

"Sure he does. Apparently we shouldn't try to attempt to bring people from the dead," Chuck said, completely deadpan. "It can bring on the apocalypse."

"...interesting," Alex said, nodding slightly. "Not something I attempt on an everyday basis but interesting. You know, some girl here told me she's Death so wouldn't that technically be someone dead?"

Chuck raised his eyebrows. "I guess it would be. There's been some vampire students. They count as dead. But I guess he was talking about bringing a dead normal person back from the dead."

"This place is fucking nuts," he said and suppressed a shudder. "Bad enough I had to go that nightmare vampire world and get kneed in the balls by some vampire. Really don't like thinking of vampires walking around here."

"I don't know, I don't mind them." Mostly because he knew their blood provided a good high. "But I didn't go over to that other place."

"It was fucked," Alex said bluntly. "And not the good kind of fucking, either. And there were some bitchy ass people there. Sticks up their asses or something."

"So I've heard," Chuck said. "I apparently died over there."

"I managed to avoid that." Thankfully. "Good death, at least?"

"I honestly have no idea," he said. "I know I wasn't eaten, but I didn't really get all the details. It wasn't really me so I could care less how it happened."

Yes, Chuck was that self-centered. Even AU versions of himself can fuck off.

"Really? I think I would have cared, at least a little," Alex said, shrugging. "For all you know, you choked on a chicken bone."

Chuck smirked. "I was murdered. Could've been via chicken bone but that would be hard to pull off, I think."

"Yeah, that would have been a creative murder," Alex said, letting it go. "I think I would've almost preferred that over getting kneed in the balls and tossed around. By a girl."

Chuck winced. "That has got to hurt the ego a bit. I'm sorry."

"Well, she was a vampire so she had an advantage but yeah," Alex said and made a face. "Didn't do any permanent damage, though. Always thankful for that."

"That's definitely the bright side," Chuck agreed. "I'm so glad I've avoided most of that weird crap."

"Most?" Alex asked, curious now. "What haven't you avoided?"

"Well I didn't avoid this one weekend where everybody was acting like they were on Days of Our Lives. Got killed during that," Chuck said. "And then there was this one weekend where everybody but me was acting insane and I got stabbed in the shoulder with an axe."

"You have a knack for getting yourself killed, don't you?" Alex asked, snickering. "That a benefit of your charming personality?"
