Hannibal knew that, technically, he should be spending his free time practicing so he wouldn't make a huge fool of himself when he finally fulfilled his requirements for losing his bet with Kate. Instead, he was sprawling in the common room, lights off, with a loud, action packed movie on the television. He'd ordered himself a pizza and decided that pretending that he didn't have humiliation in his future was a much better plan.

"This is my home now," Raven said. "And Azarath does not celebrate Thanksgiving anyway. It was good of the school to prepare a dinner; I fear I overate as well."

"That's the point of the holiday!" Well, it was a big part of it. "You eat so much that you can't move and then your just laze around and take naps. Perfect American holiday. Christmas is sort of like it but there's presents involved."

"I am looking forward to that," Raven said. "I have never celebrated Christmas before, either. I must begin shopping soon."

"You got a big shopping list?" Hannibal asked. "Mine gets longer the longer I'm here. Keep collecting friends and I like getting everyone something."

Raven nodded. "Yes, but I have saved money from my job, so I think I will be able to buy something for everyone."

"You gonna people things from your job?" he asked, unable to resist the tease.

Raven turned bright red. "I do not think that would be wise," she said. "People might get the wrong idea...and I do not think I can ask them what their preferences might be." Because there was a whole lot of weird stuff at 'Dite's.

"Kidding, kidding," he said quickly, biting his lip. "I was just teasing you, that's all. Sorry about that. Sometimes, I just can't resist."

"That is all right," Raven said, smiling at him. "I do not always understand when someone is teasing, but I am learning."

"I tend to tease a lot," he explained, "so it's something I fall back on. And I seem to be pretty good at it. Besides, I know a few people who might like gifts from the place you work at."

"I get an employee discount if you would like me to buy them for you," Raven offered. She just wouldn't ask who they were for.

"I might take you up on that." If he was buying dirty things, it'd be for one person, though. He'd get smacked if he spread that around. "Got any gift ideas yet?"

"I have a few possibilities," Raven said. "I would like them to be special." She paused a moment, then asked, "Is it considered all right to buy a teacher a present?"

"Totally," he told her, nodding. He decided not to scar poor Raven with telling her that it should be appropriate and not something involving nakedness. She blushed at the mention of the sex shop, after all. "And I think most teachers would like 'em. I bet the students don't think of them that often."

"Good," Raven said, pleased. "I would like to get Professor Skywalker something. He has helped me so much since I came here." And no, nothing from 'Dite's, thank you very much. That would scar both of them.

"Of course, I'm no help in what to get but I'm sure if you know him, you'll find him something," he assured her. "And, when in doubt, just go for gift cards."

"They seem impersonal, but also practical," Raven agreed. "You know someone will get what they want that way."

"Yeah, that's what I say. Sometimes they are impersonal but I say it's better than getting someone something they might not need or already have or something," he said. "Works for me because I'm a crappy shopper."

"I think perhaps I can use my powers to cheat," Raven mused. "If someone is speaking about something, I can sense if there is a longing. That might come in handy for deciding upon a gift."
