Girls with Guns [Wednesday after classes]

Most of the time Triela found spending time on the shooting range to be quite good at focusing her attention. Not that focus was often a problem. Training, inclination, and Conditioning all combined to keep her from becoming too distracted most of the time. Which, really, was a good thing on the range since guns were not toys.

But she was still distracted by her most recent trip home, and that meant that while she was at the range and needing to focus, she was obviously distracted. She showed up early, which wasn't unusual, but then she leaned back against the wall and stared off into space. No special activity, or even tea today.

Unless someone else brought them, which would be cool.

Triela blinked. Then shook her head and smiled slightly. "Hey, Dinah. Not bad." Just... distracted.

Dinah looked around a little surprised, then went to get protective gear. "No demos today? Nothing extra?" Everyone could have a slow week, but odd for it to be Triela.

"Um..." Triela frowned thoughtfully. "I guess I could come up with something." But she didn't sound like her heart was in it.

Algren was there, mingling.

Er. Supervising.

Something of the sort. It had been entirely too long since he'd fired off a gun of his own, and so he'd brought his pistol, and was idly cleaning it while he waited for the students to get themselves organized.

Triela may have been distracted, but not so distracted that she didn't watch the adult supervision with a weapon she hadn't seen him use before. It was always best, in her experience, to have a full appraisal of the skills of any adults nearby.

When Algren did get around to fire it, he started almost deliberately slowly, yes. It had, after all, been a while, and he still had nagging shadows of injuries that served, for the most part, just to annoy him.

But by the time he had to re-load, he'd fired nothing but bulls-eyes, and the next round was far, far quicker, and a fair deal more confident.

He wasn't about to miss his mark any time soon, no.

Triela nodded in silent approval. Not that she suspected Algren was all tied up in knots hoping for it, or anything, but it was always nice to know that someone who was competent was in charge.

Elena stopped to watch the man shoot, frowning thoughtfully. Talent like that deserved some respect, and a few quiet moments of observation to boot.

Algren had to pause to re-load the gun again eventually, and when he did, he spared a glance around the room, noticing the newcomer, and offering her a bit of a nod. It seemed as though she'd been watching him, after all.

"Yours is a new face," he noted, relatively amiably, considering this was Algren.

"Elena," she replied. "How long have you been training?"

She would never be that good. Hell, Rosalind hadn't been as good. And Rosalind had been top of her class at the Academy.

Elena ... wasn't in this group or anything, but she was a girl, and she had a gun, and she was just going to be over here, using the shooting range for the hell of it.

Triela may have been distracted, but not so distracted that she didn't notice an unfamiliar-ish face at the range. She waited for Elena to pause for a moment before offering a somewhat distracted smile and a wave.

Elena was a girl. And she had a gun. That meant she was totally welcome.

"Hi," she said, returning the wave. "You don't mind me being here, do you?"

She wasn't trying to interrupt the club. Just ... get a little shooting in.

"Not at all," Triela grinned. "There's plenty of room for you, and you're welcome to join us, if you like."

She shrugged just a bit. "Normally I'd be a good hostess and offer you tea or something, but I've been a bit distracted."

Triela waved absently when she spotted Naomi. She was distracted, but she was still, at least sort of, aware of her surroundings.

Hinata slipped in, as was her norm, and was available for mingling though more of her attention was on watching those who were using the range.

Guns. She could use one now, not wonderfully but that was par for the course--but she still didn't like them.

Dinah used one of the practice 9mm to carefully shoot the targets, going for the bullseye this week, and doing better.
