The Roof [Saturday night]

Jaime had a huge bowl of fresh popcorn dripping with butter and drenched in s salt. He was sitting near the edge of the roof, just looking out. "Man," he shook his head, looking over at his companion, "this may be the weirdest thing that's happened since I got here. And that's saying something."

He snorted. "Does this sort of thing happen often?"

"And do you think we have enough popcorn for any other unaffected people who might show up?"

"No?" Yeah, that'd be a lot more convincing if it weren't That Face, Dinah.

"Note to self: track down Paco, too," Dinah responded. Take that, Jaime.

"Hey, Paco's my friend, he'd never give you anything you could use." Unless she, you know, batted her eyelashes at him or something. Because... it was Paco. And Dinah was definitely a hot girl.

"Brenda it is, then," Dinah said, scheming, not knowing Paco, and unable to read narrative. "She'll help me! I'll tell her everything you've been doing here! And she'll give me dirt in return. Muahahahhaha."

Aren't you sorry you didn't throw Paco under the bus, Jaime?

"Brenda? Also my friend." And she'd also totally take Dinah's side on that one. They could never meet. Never!

"We'll seeeeee," Dinah threatened. "Or you could give up trying to track down those pictures now. Ha!"

"Yeah, like that's going to happen," Jaime rolled his eyes. "If you didn't want me getting them, you never should have admitted they existed."

"I didn't!" Dinah protested. "You tricked me! Or... okay, I wasn't thinking far enough ahead to my own denials and I think maybe I just admitted that there, but never mind, still!"

"Well, you'll never see me make that mistake," Jaime laughed. "I mean... what, you're sister never did this to you?"

"I didn't grow up with her," Dinah said, kind of regretting that. "So it's not the same, mostly. She just asks if I took her bike and I say "no" and she yells a lot." She reached over to poke him. Poke, poke. "Ha."

"Well, then I think it's my honor-bound duty as your friend to teach you to lie better about incriminating evidence." He was totally serious.

"Oh, sure, out of the goodness of your heart, and in the interests of making me flail!" Dinah protested, laughing back at him, and then kicking him on the foot.

"Well, yeah, that's what friends are for, right?" As long as he wasn't on the receiving end of things, of course.
