Third floor common room [Tuesday night]

For once Jaime wasn't spending his time in the common room cooking. Nope. Tonight he was sprawled out on the couch with a ziplock bag full of ice resting on his cheek. He'd spent most of Monday watching the bruise blossom from slight discoloration into a genuine shiner. So now he was just lying around watching improv comedy shows and trying to look pitiful.

It wasn't like he was above trying to get free food or care out of an injury that wasn't really that big a deal. After all, the Scarab would have completely healed the thing by now if he hadn't pointed out that that would have drawn a lot of attention. And that it didn't really hurt anyway.

So there Jaime lay: it was a nice night for sketch comedy and sympathy.

"Because then everyone around me would be fat," Raven responded, smiling.

"Only if you abused your gift," Jaime countered. "But you could use it for good. Like, only getting cake for poor injured boys!"

"I will get you cake," Raven said thoughtfully, "but only if you allow me to heal you when I return with it."

[weldedtomyspine]

Jaime thought about that. "But then you take away my source of more cake."

[trigons_child]

"You can continue to press the ice against your face and pretend?" Raven suggested.

[weldedtomyspine]

"Ooooh, that's a good point," Jaime allowed. "But that won't work tomorrow..." And he planned to milk this as long as possible.

"What if I bring you a whole cake so that you have slices you can save for later?" Raven offered. She wasn't above bribery to heal stubborn people who wouldn't let her heal them. She was seriously thinking she just shouldn't ask anymore.

"Will you cart the cake around all day so I can have a slice whenever I want?"

Raven laughed. "I would not go that far," she said. "I have class and the magical reserve to attend to tomorrow."

Jaime sighed. "And your offer was starting to sound so good, too."

[trigons_child]

"But you get no cake at all if you do not allow me to heal you," Raven said. She almost considered getting some for herself and eating it in front of him, but that would just be mean.

[weldedtomyspine]

"I get no cake from you," he corrects. "But the bruise means that I have a good chance of getting cake from other people."

[trigons_child]

Raven shook her head. "You are impossible," she said, though she was still smiling.

"So... does that mean no cake?"

[trigons_child]

"Is there cake somewhere in the room?" Raven asked, looking around. Of course, she could teleport back to town, but she wasn't offering that Yet.

Pushover.

[weldedtomyspine]

"I don't know," Jaime said innocently. "I'm too injured to look for any."

[trigons_child]

"You," Raven said Very Sternly, "are very silly. But I will be back in a moment." She lifted her arms and vanished in a puff of black smoke, reappearing a few minutes later with a plate and a piece of cake.

Jaime clasped his hands together in a poor imitation of a helpless damsel pose. "Oh, my hero!" He grinned up at her and held out his hands. He'd share of course, but... cake!

Raven perched on the arm of of the couch, digging into the cake with a fork. "This looks delicious," she said. "Cake was a wonderful idea." She lifted the fork to her mouth.

HIS CAKE! "You," Jaime pouted completely unconvincingly, "are a cruel, cruel woman." It was probably a good thing he didn't know to add 'Mistress Raven' to the end of that.

If he had, Raven would have done some combination of turning red, completely forsaking non-violence and smashing the cake in his face, and/or fleeing.

"Did you wish some cake as well?" Raven said, oh-so-innocently.

[weldedtomyspine]

"Well, I wouldn't want to put you out, but I do really like cake." He said it as if that were entirely reasonable.

She scooped some more cake onto the fork and hovered it over Jaime's head. "It is yours after I heal you," she said. Yes, she was learning to fight dirty.

"That's just mean. Super mean." Jaime pouted. "I bet the cake's all gross anyway." It looked and smelled delicious.

"It is very good," Raven said. "Freshly baked. I have never tasted cake this delicious before."

She bet Mistress Raven didn't have these kind of problems.
