Third Floor Common Room, Late Thursday Morning

And after this moment, Kate wasn’t going to do anything useful for a long while, at least not until she’d have to start packing for her trip home.

After a handwavy ballet workout in the gym, she had headed to her floor’s common room and made some orange chocolate muffins. And now that they were done – and she'd put them in a basket on a near-by table – she was hogging a couch in front of the TV, and watching a random cooking show about extravagant wedding cakes.

Life was good, at this very moment. And so were the muffins.

With his last final tomorrow, Hannibal was just vegging out today. So, it was easy enough to come down one floor, follow the scent of food and find Kate in the common room.

When he caught sight of what she was watching, he paused and asked, "There something I don't know about in your future?"

"I'm totally getting married on New Year's Eve," Kate smirked, glancing at him. "Did I forget to tell you?"

"You did," he said, mock gasping before leaning over the back of the couch. "Who's the lucky guy? Or girl?"

She frowned at him. "As if I'd marry anyone other than little Louisiana's daddy."

"Well, I had to make sure so I would know for certain I didn't have to step in and play surrogate," he said, shaking his head. "Does he know you're planning this wedding?"

Speak of the devil...

"I hear that the world's ending the day after finals," Jaime answered a question not aimed at him in an oh-so-helpful tone.

"Did you?" Hannibal asked, tilting his head. "Who's your source?"

"Um... a little bird told me?" In case it wasn't clear, Jaime was full of crap.

"I don't know if I can believe a little bird," Hannibal replied. "You trust the bird?"

Bobby was heading back to his room after the Ethics final, but as if he wasn't gonna stop and investigate a newly-baked-something smell.

So here he was, poking his head into the common room.

"Muffins!" he exclaimed. "...And Kate, too. Hi!"

"If we didn't see each other all the time, I'd be hurt by that," Kate remarked. "But yeah, muffins. Help yourself."

"Awesome," Bobby said, snagging two. "And hey, if I hadn't specified you might've thought 'muffins' was a new pet name, and... I like you, but I don't think we're at that stage in our relationship," he told her mock-solemnly.

Kate snorted. "Yeah, and if you ever call me 'muffins' I will... dump glitter in your bed. Or something like that."

"I feel so loved right now, you cannot even imagine," Bobby said, putting one hand over his heart and striking a dramatic pose.

"Muffins!" Jaime agreed, mumbling around half a muffin himself.

"I hope you're not using it as a nickname either," Bobby informed him. "Because like I told Kate, I just don't feel as if we're in that stage of our relationship."

Jaime would have tried looking disappointed, but his face was stuffed with muffin. He chewed quickly and swallowed. "Are you saying you think we should see other people?" Jaime asked cheekily.

Jack smelled something delicious and just followed the scent. "Ooo, muffins!" he said, spying the baked goods of awesome-smelling. "Hey! What's new?" he said with a wave.

"Hey Jack," Kate smiled, returning the wave. "Not much. Getting ready for Christmas. You?"

"Oh, man, Christmas. I haven't even started on that," he said. He looked back at the muffins and perked back up a bit. "These yours?"

"Mine and yours and everyone's. Help yourself."

"I'd say something about you hogging all the couch space, but... muffins." Jaime liked muffins!

Jaime was smart that way.

"Yeah, I've shielded myself from bitching with the clever use of baked goods," Kate smirked.

"Smart woman," he grinned as he grabbed a couple. "So are you awesomely done now?" he asked as he wandered over to the couch and hovered to let her move her feet if she didn't want them to get sat on. And if she didn't move them... well... Jaime would sit on them.

She moved her feet, yes, but if he didn't object loudly or shove them or anything, she was going to put them back down in his lap. Because it wasn't her fault he'd insisted on sitting in her feetspace.
