Third Floor Common Room, Late Thursday Morning

And after this moment, Kate wasn’t going to do anything useful for a long while, at least not until she’d have to start packing for her trip home.

After a handwavy ballet workout in the gym, she had headed to her floor’s common room and made some orange chocolate muffins. And now that they were done – and she'd put them in a basket on a near-by table – she was hogging a couch in front of the TV, and watching a random cooking show about extravagant wedding cakes.

Life was good, at this very moment. And so were the muffins.

"Can we still be friends?" Jaime snorted, trying not to laugh.

"Oh, of course!" Bobby nodded. "It might be awkward at first, but we'll make it work. Our friendship is too dear to me to give up."

Jaime's composure finally failed and he burst out laughing. "That's the softest let-down I've ever had. Thanks."

"What can I say, I'm a sensitive guy," Bobby managed, before giving in to laughter himself.

[weldedtomyspine]

"Yeah, that was exactly what I was thinking," Jaime laughed. Eventually he managed to stop and shake his head. "So what've you been up to, man?"

[longislandiceme]

"Mostly? Not-studying for finals," Bobby admitted. Well, and being kidnapped and having his powers jacked up to insane levels, but he was not gonna mention that part. "And hoping the island decides to give us candy again."

[weldedtomyspine]

"Oh, yeah, I am right there with you on all that." Well, not the kidnapping and power-boosting stuff, which the Scarab was making very alarmed noises about which Jaime was ignoring. "There so needs to be more candy."

"I wonder if we could start a petition?" Bobby mused.

[weldedtomyspine]

"But who would we even give it to?" Not that Jaime was against this plan. After all: candy.

[longislandiceme]

"Maybe the mayor knows?" he suggested.

[weldedtomyspine]

"The big scary guy?" Jaime asked dubiously. He wasn't sure he wanted to ask that guy for candy.

[longislandiceme]

"One and the same," Bobby nodded. "He's not so bad!" Even if thinking too hard about timelines and stuff made Bobby's brain hurt. But he was willing to put that aside for candy.

"Not so bad. He looks like he eats nails." Nate was SCARY.

[longislandiceme]

"He's a Summers," Bobby shrugged. "I think it's genetic."

[weldedtomyspine]

"Summers," Jaime repeated. "I don't know them. Are they famous?"

[longislandiceme]

"Not really," Bobby said, though he supposed Scott, as Cyclops, had a certain level of infamy associated with him, as did all the X-Men. "He's just- related to one of my best friends from home. So, scary-looking or not, I trust him."

"Oh, yeah, I guess I can see that. I've got a friend or two from back home who doesn't look all that trustworthy at first glance, too." Like, say, Peacemaker.

[longislandiceme]

"And also? He totally doesn't seem like a candy-loving type so hey, more for us."

[weldedtomyspine]

"Oh, point. I bet even candy is afraid of him."
