The pool, Friday morning
"I really wish I could go to Sandover with you for a short visit," Dinah said over her shoulder to Jak, holding the door for him. She threw her towel on one of the pool chairs and kicked off her flip-flops. "But this'll have to do!"
[for the Sandover sweetheart, but open, as pools are]

"Works," she said aloud, and then hauled herself up out of the water and onto the edge of the pool. "Me first, I lost, consolation prize!" And she padded over to the diving board, climbing up it as quick as she could.
She took a moment at the edge of the board to wave to the non-existent judges, bow to Jak, then took a breath. One bounce. Two bounce. Three-- and diiiiiiiiiiive!
Splash!

Still, Jak was scrambling to get up out of the pool with another grin on his face, racing along the side towards the diving board as soon as she was finished. He got on it, bouncing once or twice (his trunks bounced along slightly at the edges) and... followed.
It wasn't exactly a swan dive, but it was really, really graceful, with a little arch, and then a straight on dive towards the floor of the pool.

She lazily swam back over to the edge, and hauled herself out again, adjusting her tankini top so it wouldn't ride up too much. Ahem.

Then, after a pause, he shared a quick memory of the first time he and Dax helped out the fisherman, hanging over the edge of a very low bridge with a net. Dax leaned over too far, and fell straight in, spluttering and flailing around, and Jak had cracked up.
For no reason at all than that the memory had suddenly occurred to Jak, really.

He perked up. Yeah!

A spiral of water rose up from the surface of the pool, twisting and turning into a rope, then an arc; she opened her eyes and grinned as it hung there over their heads, then sent it sailing out to splash into the surface of the water beyond Jak, sending up a cone of water, then settling. Ha!

She swayed and gulped, then opened her eyes to beam at Jak, words gone for a second in relief from concentration; not the easiest thing in the world to do, that.

He missed waterfalls sometimes, okay?

You couldn't blame Jak, through, for reaching inside for what little spark of blue eco was left in his reserves after all this time as he took Dinah's hand. Just as a safety blanket.

Dinah carefully elevated him out of the water, so his feet were on a level with hers, the water lapping barely over the edges of their feet, and grinned. We could dance like this. If there was music. She squeezed his fingers, and put one arm around his neck.

Trying to look at the arm might be a problem.
Yeah, he said, lamely. It's like... standing on the surf.

She stretched up to kiss him, one hand on his chest, and hummed under her breath. After a second, she realized it was some of that U2 Jono had been playing on the roof a while ago. Where the streets have no name....
